Don't hyperextend your back at lockout, just stand straight up or you're risking a horrible injury.

So I'm leaning back too much in the lockout correct? The proper end would be standing upright?

On the horrible injury part: I think I might have damaged my shoulder doing DLs on that workout, perhaps pulling my shoulders back too much?

Yeah that's definitely a possibility, I would look on Youtube and compare your video with a Deadlift instructional video by Mark Rippetoe or something and it'll be easy to spot flaws.

Will do. I have to a week or two to let my shoulder pain stop, no point on doing anything with shoulder pain. Gives me plenty of time to study me technique, I plan on doing Stronglifts 5x5.

Try not to snatch at the bar too much and sit back into the lift a bit more.

make sure you are dragging the bar up your legs.  I have bald lines, and bruises on my legs from where I drag the bar.  Keep the weght on oyur heels, look up at all times, NEVER LOOK DOWN! Even between reps.  Keep your back arched, and as soon as the bar hits your knees, push your hips forward.  I was told  to pretend there is a hot chick in front of you, and just slam your hip forward.

Is it supposed to keep your back arched?
And i read somewhere that you shouldn´t look up, your head should be in line with your spine.
    Kind of like this:
And why are you "stoppin" between reps?

you are meant to, each rep is meant to start from the ground and the bar must be dead.

on another note, dont lower the bar slowly. do it controlled, but dont purposefully act against the weight to make it go down slower - it wastes energy pointlessly and you could injure yourself.

@Mr. Lol: I'll be starting 5x5 soon so that will be a good time to get a proper technique in.

1 Sit back into the lift/ weight on heels.

    2 LOOK UP

3 Back arched? I though you were supposed to keep straight back?

4 Bar hits my knees as in I drag it against my shins(I need to man up) and when it reaches my knees I thrust my hips forward?

    @ Hair: I'm re-setting.

@STRS8: just lower the bar as fast as I can with control then?

Also, no snatching, lift with the legs, not jerk with my arms and ruin my shoulder(which I did).?

I know that you are supposed to began each rep with the bar on the ground, but you take like a 4 second pause, why?

Also, what about what i said earlier?

A good thing about Stronglifts is that they show all the lifts Wink

    Good Deadlift Technique

The weight should be dead, but this takes 1s tops. Otherwise you're doing a mini-widowmaker. If you let it rest too much "to make sure it's dead", you're going to be tempting yourself to take excessive rest when the reps are tough. Apart from that, I think the video explains your other faults, namely hyperextension of the back & lowering it too slowly.

As for making sure you drive the force correctly: Imagine a cartoon-character deadlifting. The weight is so heavy the character can't lift it, but he's not giving up, as he pushes with all his might, he drives his heels down the ground 'til he's knee-deep in the ground. The point to be illustrated is that he's driving his heels into the ground, which is what you should do as well.

I think everything I was going to say has been said.

Probably the main thing I would change is to make sure you don't take so much time between each rep.  Put it down, make sure everything is in the right position and go for the next one.

Just checking: are you tensing your abs up as you do the lift?
