I've deadlifted 4x/week at times, hit a 15lb PR after 1 week, jus sayin... to be fair one day was trap bar, one was "speed" deads paused at the knees, one was over 90%, and the other was a max pull.

Yeah, which is absolutely understandable.  If you were maxing out every session (true 1RM), that would have been gruesome.

Keeping the pulls below 85% for the most part will allow for a higher frequency, which is how the powerlifting template of the Broz method came to be (comprising primarily of speed pulls, perhaps 2-3 max-outs per year).

I max my deadlift pretty frequently though, that template would have me maxing every week

Just wanted to say that tendons/ligaments take MUCH longer to heal than muscles so IMO it is false that you are lifting in a "fatigued state" where the muscle cannot exert the power up to its full potential but it still exerts MOST OF IT. Take for instance one of them could squat maybe 600 if they healed (I'm just generalizing) then they squat 500 in training, the ligaments/tendons will still take most of the stress. I known people who work overtrain up to this point incorrectly (for example doing bicep curls everyday) then they end up pulling a muscle. Unless your body is used to it I don't believe that you could just start off working a muscle 4 times a week even if you are taking steroids...

All these coaches say to work up to it. As a beginner, unless you're some kind of Navy Seal, you'd just burn out from mental stress anyway, never mind the physical part.
