If I replace pendlay rows with power cleans on SL would my bench press suffer? Because rows are supposed to carry-over to your bench, I'll still do pullups(weighted pullups when strong enough) though

Probably not, but if you wanna do the power clean I suggest switching to Starting Strength, which is almost the same plan and lots of people actually think it's better than SL.

I agree with Anton. Just do Starting Strength since its built to accommodate the power clean.

Mehdi does not know your goals and therefore you can easily switch to another program if you have changed your goals. People have said that Starting Strength is better for beginners than StrongLifts but they both share the same purpose: strength development with the most basic exercises.

Sigh.. If you want to do power cleans do starting strength. It is almost identical but the volume is slightly less. Mehdi pretty much stole starting strength and put 5x5 on it and just cause Mehdi said this or that doesn't make it 100% true.

You can't learn to power clean properly from the SL website; there just isn't enough information. Why do you want to them anyway?

This. If you want to properly learn the power clean you are going to end up buying the SS book. At that point you might as well get on the SS routine since you are using the SS material to learn.

This is 100% correct. I would highly recommend buying starting strength and reading everything it has to say about power cleans before you even think about doing them. Remember that form is everything.

Just to pile it on: +1.

Buy a copy of Starting Strength if you want to do cleans. Hell, the book and the DVD if you have the money. It will be money well spent.
