i can max at 1.5x my weight in squats, but i can only go down to just over parallel.  Does this count? or when people talk about maxes for squats do your legs have to be definatly lower than parallel or is just at parallel ok?

You have to get at least to parallel.  Anything above that is technically a partial squat.

My idea of a squat is glutes to calves.  Obviously i'm not going to say what you do doesn't count...it's just not a full ROM.
