I have recently started again exercising ( 2 months ago ) because of an abdominal surgery. I am reading the forums to answer my questions. I would like to know if I can make my workout routine based on Dropsets , instead of standard 3x10 sets of fixed weights. I am a doctor and I watch also my eating habits to have max gains.

You may.  In particular, what do you have in mind for drop sets?

Assuming your working weight is 100, do you mean 1st set 100, second set 90, third set 80, and you do the same amount of reps per set or do you plan to increase amount of reps per set? Smiley

I plan to increase the reps on each set to do the maximum reps with each weight.

My goal is the maximum in calorie burning and muscle gain from the sets.

I see.  Then you're on the right track.

I suggest, however, if you plan to go to failure; you do so on the last set.

If you don't plan to go to failure, then don't at all.

Don't go to failure on all sets because it will give you a difficult time to recover. Smiley

At least 1 minute in between sets, or until the point where you've recovered.  My normal rest period in between sets is 3 minutes, but sometimes I recover earlier than that, like 1 minute. Smiley
