Hey guys, I am in the under 14's rugby union team, and I want to be able to tackle harder. My weight and height are 51-54kg (not completely sure) and height is 167cm with a very low body fat. Which exercises will improve my tackling?

Tackle more.  Don't you guys have something which you tackle?  Do that some more.  Then general strength training with barbells.  And sprints.

First off, no need to post this in multiple threads.

Secondly, for a good tackle you ideally need two things - a powerful drive (legs/lower back) and a strong grip (primarily shoulders/upper chest), both with an explosive aspect.

So exercises that will improve your tackling I would suggest include squats [leg and back strength], full cleans [explosiveness in the legs], overhead press [shoulder and upper chest strength] and incline flies [mimicry of the motion].

Best exercise of all is practice. Proper timing will get you much further than any particular strength or explosive exercises, especially at your level.

That's your best investment if you wish to improve tackling, because your friends might get hurt if you tackle them often.  Though it's satisfying.  Mwahahahaha.

    Keep it up man.

Keep in mind tackling in Rugby is very different than American Gridiron football. You need good core and leg strength, with some upper body strength. In my experience, people who have stronger upper body and weaker lower body tend to high tackle more(Trying to strong arm someone or close line style tackle them). Tackling has a lot to do with technique as well. A lot of backs can get your tripped up if your footing isn't good. Your team should be doing tackle work. A favorite drill of my old team was to make a square "tackle box" out of cones.  The drill trains both the carrier and the tackler. The carrier learns how to react against a tackle - a forward drive or a dancing back and how to place the ball once your put down. As the tackler, it teaches you how to react to juke and spin moves (A fleet footer wing or OC can be an ankle breaker) and how to tackle a forward driving into you. If you team isn't running at least some kind of tackle drills, you should suggest some. In Rugby it isn't always about tackling the hardest. A good tackle sets up a good ruck Smiley

    stronger hands and hips....

i.e. work your hands (I'd invest in an Ivanko super-gripper  , google it), or do finger curls with dumbbells, and get your hands much much stronger...

then hips... deadlift baby, but you're kinda young for deadlifts so consult with your doctor/coach first
