I feel like I'll add this here because it fits, I think.
I think I have naturally wide hips, so just below where my ribcage ends and my hips begin there's a weird inwards V shape, can i 'straighten' this out by doing strong core workouts?

Lots of compound exercises and actively tightening my core for stabilization. For obliques I do standing cable twists (no idea how they're called). Only real ab exercise I do is weighted leg raises.

I think you mean woodchoppers, for the cable twists.
