Today I did some squats...

During one set it happened that I loaded 50kg on the right side of the bar and only 30kg to the left side (missed a 20kg plate). I recognized that when unracking the bar. Which is too late. Lucky me nothing happened. But things could have gotten terribly wrong.

And this is not the first time something like that happened to me. Often times it happens that I load to much on the bar (e.g. confusing 5kg plates with 10kg plates) and wonder why my warmup is harder than expected. Than I blame my self for being weak today - until I change the plates for the next set and suddenly I recognize everything was okay - besides loading to much on the bar.

Those things happened to me so often, that I need to write it down here so I dont forget it Wink. This is probably not the first time mentioning this mistake here. But it is worth repeating the mistake so others are reminded to check the plates. From now on I will always check the plates before I start a set - even on the first set with just the bar Cheesy.

I was benching one time and had a similar thing happen. There was a miscommunication between my spotter and myself and he didn't add enough weight to one side (I did the other side of the bar to save time). Luckily it was a warm up set and I managed to maintain control and rack it back up. Scared me pretty bad though hahah

It has happened to me on too many occasions.

Not being fully focused on the "here and now" can be very costly when lifting weights.

    Thanks for the reminder!
