I'm currently trying to build more leg muscle to help me in sprinting. I normally switch from endurance runs to interval training to working with weights, and running uphills. I do need to have good cardio every day in order to burn fat, but my legs would be sore... any suggestions?

Well first of all, dont back down, second of all what do you mean would be sore, have you even tried it yet? Soreness is part of whats going to happen when you do this.  Smiley

Overtraining - What is it?

You can train your legs every day with soreness... You just have to be careful about over-training. I currently squat three times a week, dead lift two times a week, row/erg two times a week, and run once a week. All require your legs , but I listen to my body, making sure I do not over train them. When I feel overly tired or show other signs of over training I either lighten up or skip the workout all together. As long as you do the same you can do whatever the heck you want.

I wouldn't say being sore is a sign of over training... And pushing through the soreness in a workout will often make it go away. Not really sure why. Heh. More blood flow to the muscles?

Oh well of course I knew that you will get sore from working out. Although, I always thought you can't train them while your sore otherwise they won't heal and grow properly, looking at scooby's "no pain, no gain" video. So, if I were to have sore legs from a workout one day and then I need to have my daily cardio the next day and so forth. Say I go cycling or running, my legs will still heal properly?

properly yes.  But it may take longer.

I use the word may in that sentence as some articles I read suggest that cardio which help the blood flow and the movement of the muscle will actually help heal it.

For example a person with a cramp in their leg is suggested to walk it off.  Now a cramp and micro tears are not the same thing but the foundation seems accurate.

So best is to try it and see if it work or does not work for you.  If your legs are sore longer than you know it did not work.

CG, what do you mean by if your legs are sore longer, did you mean that if they are still sore after cardio?
