Dear fellows,

I am writing on this forum to get some advice on my progress.

I am a 34 year old male. I weigh 70kg and am about 5'10" tall. I am not the skinny type and have considerable amount of fat on my belly, butt, waist, etc. I also have gynecomastia ever since I remember. My weight has been constant for the last 5+ years.

I started working out at home with some dumbbells in April 2008. By 2009 Feb, I injured my right wrist which the docs classified as tendinitis. It was most likely due to doing (close hand) triangular pushups which is shows in plenty of youtube videos, which is exactly opposite of what Scooby professes in his videos. I stopped all forms of exercise then.

I resumed exercise in Feb of 2010 and have been doing regulary except for a 2 month inevitable break. I have been watchig Scooby's videos and try to incorporate his methods in my routine.

I started cardio as per the schedule of "intermediate" bodybuilders on Scooby's website. Its been 3 weeks since I have been doing cardio. On the weight training days, its 20 min of light jog and brisk walk and on others its 30 min of the same. My heart rate varies from 110 to 160 bpm. The target is to gain muscle and lose weigh at the same time while getting rid of gynecomastia. I have been monitoring my progress by weight and measurements of my arms, legs, tummy, chest for 3 weeks now. To my surprise, I have not shed a gram of weight or a cm of fat. Nevertheless, I am determined to continue the routine till the end of this month and then measure the progress again. I use a digital scale to weigh myself which is quite accurate. I use a measuring tape to measure the girth of body for tracking fat loss. For the last one week, I am following the "intermediate" program in its letter and spirit (bicep, tricep, lats etc) as well.

I am conscious about my diet and try to avoid fatty foods, fast food and cold drinks. I don't imbibe alcohol (easy for us Muslims as it is not permitted). I try and count calories but I may be eating above my TDEE. I eat 4 times a day:

1. Meal 1 (0745 hrs)
    - 6 slices of whole wheat bread
    - Quarter table spoon of honey
    - One banana
    - 250 ml non-fat milk
    - Some butter, peanut butter and jam

2. Meal 2 (1230 hrs)
    - 6 slices of whole wheat bread
    - Some Indian curry of vegetables, fish, mutton etc. (I avoid the oily curry and only eat the veg, meat)

3. Meal 3 (1700 hrs)
    - 6 slices of whole wheat bread
    - Some Indian curry of vegetables, fish, mutton etc. (I avoid the oily curry and only eat the veg, meat)

4. One banana 30 min before workout

5. Post workout (30 min after)
    - 250 ml of non-fat milk
    - One apple, some grapes, some rolled oats (50g or less)

Questions:

1. Is it possible to lose gynecomastia by cardio?

2. Is there anything such as fat converting to muscle ?

3. My weight had been the same even before workout. Why is the cardio not helping me lose weight ? There should be at least a drop of 1/2kg or so ?

Regards

2. No, you can't convert fat to muscle.

3. Could be what you eat. Drop that butter and jam (OR drop oatmeal before bed and eat PB butter instead of it), reduce a slice of bread from each meal, and see if it changes at all.
