Im looking for a Indoor Cardio Workout. I most of the time go running daily, but now with the weather Its harder to get out. Also with school and I might be getting a job I won't be able to run outside. Im wanting to burn some fat off still though. Im 16, around 150lbs 5'11 and around 20% bf. If that gives you an idea what would be good for me please reccomend a workout. Thank you!!

I bought a jump rope and can use it inside when i adjust it to the shortest setting. it works fine but the jump rope sucks and always lengthens out of the short setting while im jumping so make sure u get a good one.
look for a cheap used staionay bike, thats something im planning on doing. cardio inside the huse is boring though.

I've been doing the Spartacus 2012 routine ( http://www.menshealth.com/fitness/skinny-spartacus/page/3) with 15 lb dumbbells three days per week. Three circuits takes 30 minutes, and by the end I'm dripping with sweat and gasping for breath. I suppose this isn't technically a "cardio" routine but I find it harder to complete than a 3 mile run.

i agree that cardio indoors is not as fun and interresting as outside but there is alot you can do here are some examples... 1- jumping jacks 2- jump rope 3- high knees 4- burpees all of these have different variation so as not to get bored and you can combine them together as you progress

Bodyweight squats done as tabatas and burpees are all you need for cardio. Check out one of Zusanna's cardio workouts too, I think her web site is bodyrock or something like that. She is a cardio machine, and most of her routines are just her, no gear.

Not to jack this thread but wouldn't doing excersize like push ups interfere with the rest required to gain muscle. I have heard people do bodyweight workouts for cardio but I thought you shouldn't work your muscles on rest days.

Some do burpees with pushups, others without them (squat-thrusts). Also with enough conditioning, pushups are easy enough that it's not a major impact on recovery from heavy work like weighted dips.

I don't know if it is blasphemy on this site, but you might want to check out the P90x routines. these are indoor 60 minute workouts, basically just circuit training, and vary enough that you can carry on for a couple months before getting bored. Personally I would not be able to do burpees, or skipping or jumping jacks for 30 minutes a few times a week. I would find it too boring. I alternate between spinning intervals and rowing intervals, but on clear days, dress for the weather and get out there for a run.

Oh man, you read my mind ! This is an absolute must if you want to lose fat and trim up. The Spartacus routines off of Men's Health are amazing. I'm currently doing Spartacus 2.0 with my own few tweaks and 20 minutes of intensive ABS circuits and it RIPS YOU UP! If you can truly push yourself for the entire duration and take only the recommended rest, your body fat will be down in the 10% and below before you know it! Below are links to the other two Spartacus workouts as well as videos for how to do them Men's Health: Spartacus 1.0Men's Health: Spartacus 2.0

This is what I do.
1 min - jumping jacks 1 min - rest 1 min - burpees with jump 1 min - rest 1 min - 2 handed dumbbell swing (use a heavy weight) 1 min - rest
Repeat 3 times. It should take about 20 minutes, and personally I find it really effective. If it's not intense enough for you, add another set or switch jumping jacks for a more intensive exercise.

-20 seconds jumping squats -20 seconds mountain climber -20 seconds jumping jacks -20 seconds burpees
1 min rest
Do this 3 or 4 times. If you are hardcore like i am you can do it 6 times.

Okay You guys have talked me into trying this. Im think im going to try to start the Spartacus 2.0 workout because it's exactly what I need to do for results. Thanks!!! The best part is that the exercises are so varied that you don't get bored and can go from one to another with very little rest. Plus, as you get better, you can increase the work intervals, wear weighted vest/leg/arm weights, or just use heavier dumbbells. I see so much potential in these workouts Plus, if you slow down your movements and use decent weight, you can actually have a hypertrophy effect as well

Plus, if you get bored of one routine, there are plenty of others to take its place (Thor, Ironman, Captain America, three Spartacus, etc.) Rather than get bored my thoughts are typically "Not another set up pushup/squat thrusts! Make it stop!"
