Hello I am trying to lose belly fat, need some advice with my cardio
I have started to run daily Mon-Friday about 3 miles a day total.
Total time on treadmill is 45 Minutes.
5 minutes warm up at 3.5-4 MPH
Then for 40 Minutes I alternate at 6 MPH and 3 MPH every Minute.
IS this Effective? or is 1 minute not long enough??

I am not an expert when it comes to running for weight loss.
But i do know that for maximum weight loss one needs to keeps their heart rate at above 80% of their maximum heart rate.
You should be able to judge your maximum heart rate by your age.
So i am sure that when you run at 6mph your heart rate is above that but at 3mph i am not so sure. Running intervals is much more effective if you don't allow your heart rate to fall too much lower than 80%.
I believe that you would do best finding that exact pace which brings your heart rate to about 80% and keeping at that for about 40 minutes, with a good warm up and cooling down before and after respectively.
Many treadmills have an option of automatically controlling the speed based on your heart rate.
Again i would like to point out that i am no expert, just did some research recently.
Good Luck
