I recently developed a pain when I run in the inside of both my legs. Its almost like shin splints but on the inside of my leg, a few inches above the big ankle bone.

Has anyone here faced a similar problem and how did you treat it

Thanks

I get shin splints but is it a piercing pain? Are you wearing proper shoes? I would be very carefull and dont try to push through it if it hurts.

The pain occurs as soon as I stop running. It seems to be fine as long as I maintain a steady jog and when I stop, it feels like my shins can't bear my weight.

Are your heels the first thing which hits the ground when you run?  Do you run on concrete?  Are you heavy?

I've consciously altered my running style to avoid heel striking.  I used to have pain in the outer shins (tibialis anterior) but that went away gradually. The inner shin pain has been a new development, now that I have increased my overall distance and speed.

I do run on a fairly hard surface (asphalted path in a park) and I have noticed that the pain isn't as severe when im on the treadmill.

I've cut back to running only on alternate days to prevent aggravating the pain.

Its frustrating coz Im barely out of breath when I run, but my shins give out way before my lungs do Sad
