Follow Scooby's advice and have 6 well balanced meals a day. If you eat properly and give your body enough protein and carbohydrates you will be able to gain muscle/mass combined with doing cardio. That's the way Scooby wants you to do it!

yeah you need to have caloric surplus if you want to gain muscle but it should be from complex carbs and simple carbs are sometimes acceptable

cardio 3 times a week is fine

A small caloric surplus (100-200 kcal/day) over your TDEE can help with gains, but is a double-edges sword that can put on fat as well. Cardio helps control that balance as well as making your body more efficient and thus better at building muscle. Strong heart is always a plus.

Cardio is great for overall health. Muscle loss from cardio usually doesn't happen until after 30 minutes anyway from what i have read. Marathon runners suffer from that kind of issue.

I'm in the same boat. General consensus I've got from people, is that doing 10 or so minutes of cardio at the end of a workout is the way to go. You don't have to giver by any means, just light cardio for a cool down. And it won't burn a significant amount of calories.

scooby says to eat just enough, and do 30 mins cardio everyday. while other people say to eat MORE than enough with a caloric surplus and minimize cardio. so who is right?

i heard scoobys way gives you lean gains but it takes longer. and the other way will give you muscle gains but also fat but faster. which is better in your opinion?

So how do you want to gain weight? Anyone can gain weight, just eat lots of food and get little exercise.

If you want to gain MUSCLE though then YES, YOU SHOULD DO CARDIO because weight training puts quite a lot of strain on the entire body and you're NOT going to be able to do heavy compounds without a healthy cardio vascular system.

Now as to the rest of it, its a balance between diet and excercise - for *ME* I've found that I'm getting my best gains with a slight calorific surplus (high protein, mid carbs, low fat) and an average of 3 days cardio a week. That doesn't mean I'm gaining weight since I have a couple of days with reduced calorific intake but 5 days cardio is too much for MY body to give optimal gains.

It really is a matter of finding out what is right for you. I'm nearly 40 and was obese and unfit last year so its no wonder 5 days cardio is too much for me. Someone younger though could probably do 5 days cardio, maintain their weight and still make great muscle gains.

i want to gain muscle ofcourse, but alot of people say that you should eat alot of good foods and workout, then when youre big do cardio and eat less. however, scooby says to just do cardio and eat only enough. so i want to know which is the fastest way to gain mass?

If you want to gain muscle then you need to intensely exercise your muscles and consume enough protein to allow them to gain mass.  The proportion of cardio you need to do effectively depends on how much excess fat you are carrying around.
