Here's my situation: This is what I eat in a day

- 257.74 protein
- 256.39 carbs
- 45.5 non saturated fat (58.975 total fat)
- 2700 - 2800 KCals

For 3 weeks I've had strength gains (I also noticed some muscle gains) and I've been at a steady weight of 96 Kg.
I do weight lifting 3 times a week and 30 - 40 minutes cardio 3 - 5 times a week.

My question :
Should I eat less carbs (and replace those calories with calories from let's say non fat cottage cheese, vegetables, tuna, etc.) if I want to loose fat a faster rate ?

Shorter question:
Does eating less carbs but the same number of calories help me loose fat faster ?

Thank you for your help Smiley

I would try cutting them back slowly in very small increments and closely monitoring the results.

What's your weight? 257g of protein is waaaay too much. At 211 pounds you'd be needing 211g of protein MAXIMUM. Since you say you want to lose fat your lean body mass is even less, I doubt you'll need more than 180 grams or so. So, no do not cut carbs, cut the protein and increase your fat intake. If you still don't get enough fat in or get in too many calories you may cut some carbs. But first focus on less protein, more fat.

ok .. maybe not 257 grams. More like 220 - 230. Anyway, as long I eat my caloric needs (something like 20% under my TDEE) why would more protein result in fat gains?
From what I know the sources of energy that the body uses are: carbs then fat. So it would make sense to reduce the grams of carbs that I eat so that the body dips into the fat reserves faster

I never said protein makes you fat. And you're contradicting yourself, for one you say all you need is a caloric deficit you lose fat, yet you do blame carbs for making you fat but you got it right already, it's only about calories in vs calories out! Now what you put into those calories is completely up to you but this is too much protein and way too little fat.

Regarding the energy sources, yes, carbs (glucose) are the bodies preferred source of energy but guess what, you won't use all that protein (sorry, more protein won't give you muscle mass) but since we are designed to make the best of use of everything we won't waste but rather convert it into, well, glucose/carbohydrate.
