Just done it on my stationary bike and damn, it makes barbell complexes look like jumping jacks. I'm gonna go die now, bye.

It is, but it feels good afterwards.  There is no fatigue like experience and one feels like one is able to conquer the world.  I often felt the most perky when i did tabata.

I did feel amazing once the initial 'oh god my heart is pounding' feeling subsided. Something tells me this is going to become regular for me.

Great.  I find it a positive reinforcement where one works hard and as a consequence achieves a state of having accomplished something worthwhile for a limited time. :3

I was reading about Tabata and it seems to be saying that it should be done with free weights, like complexes are. Is there anything wrong was just doing Tabata intervals on a stationary bike, as long as I'm giving each interval 100%?

It's better done with not free weights or machine weights to avoid joint injuries. :3. I'm not a fan of using tabata in weights, i tried it, hurt my joints.  Useless waste of effort. :3

I use a "modified" Tabata workout on an elliptical trainer due to bad knees.  More like HIIT.   5 minute warm up... 1 minute @ 90-95 percent max heart rate followed by 1 minute of recovery.....repeat 8 times.  5 minute cool down.  Will gradually reduce recovery time.  Great cardio.

That's tough.  I can only do one minute all out sprints 3 x. >.<

If you stay with Tabata or HIIT your stamina will improve.  Just be aware that Tabata or HIIT should NOT be done everyday.  2-3 times/week.  Give your body a chance to recover.
