I managed to get some nice results, i lost weight and gained muscle, Ive been on a very strick diet with a lot of protein.
So from my experience, it is possible to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time.

I definitely agree that you can gain muscle and lose weight.  I followed Scooby's instructions for diet, and managed a whopping 1,000 daily calorie deficit due to the enormous amount of cardio I was doing, while keeping my calories consumed safely over my BMR.  I lifted weights at home during this whole time.  Over the course of about three months, I lost 20 pounds, going from 24% body fat to about 13%, yet for example my dumbbell press went from a pair of 30lb weights for 8 reps to 55lb weights for 10 reps.  I experienced a massive improvement in running - from running out of breath after 18 minutes at 6 mph, to being able to run a 15k at about 7mph.

I kept eating protein every 2.5-3 hours, my co-workers at first thought I was nuts for eating so frequently but now that they see the results everyone wants in on my secret.  It's just proper nutrition, calorie deficit, lots of lifting, and a wide variety of cardio.

I don't know if it will work for everyone, but gaining muscle and losing fat seemed to work for me.

I took a month off from the diet, but am now back on it with significantly more fresh vegetables and fruits.

I have been gaining muscle and losing fat for the past 5 months, I can't give you exact details, but I'm getting a six pack now and I'm definitely a lot stronger.
Something I'm worried about is that I won't be able to keep adding muscle while losing fat, I heard somewhere that it can't be done like that for a long time, and eventually I'll need to start bulking and cutting.
Is this true or is it rubbish?
