Can't stand it anymore. Now the only good protein sources outside of protein shakes is tuna...and I really don't want to sucumb to mercury poisoning...anybody have any ideas for cheaper (just not expensive) protein sources that I can eat(for home and taking with me)? I don't mind cooking and refrigerating, but I just can't think of anything. Very broad question I know.

edit:
Thanks for responses. I actually don't have problems getting protein on a standard diet, except I have been cycling carbs. So on my low carb days, and especially no carb days, I struggle to get enough calories because of limited options.

Ummm... Fat free dairy, pork, eggs, beef, fish, anything that once had a soul... Edemame, beans, kashi golean, tofu, too many options to say you cant think of any.

... dried soybeans, split peas, low-carb versions of breads (tortillas, bagels, and loafed bread normally has a substantially higher fiber and protein ratio), cottage cheese...

Anytime of beans or quinoa or chickpeas with brown rice and a glass of milk + a fruit. A complete meal. Cook the rice and beans before hand and toss them together. Plenty of protein and calories.

Well Rani you know fat is linked to heart disease, obesity, illiteracy, cancer, lupus, malaria, spanish flu, fusion of the vertebrae, webbed feet, baldness, pregnancy rates (inversely related), bad grades on your homework, your dog dying in 3rd grade (WHY RUFUS WHYYYYYY), car accidents, mortality rates of mexican-american chinchilla farmers, and the probability that your card castle will fall within 10 seconds of starting construction.

Why would you ever take a chance with that???

You'd have to consume an insane amount of  tuna to get mercury poisoning.

Maybe you want to freeze the chicken but bring it down to the fridge a day before you eat it so it can thaw? that's how I do it and boy it tastes AMAZING. Get creative.

i feel you man. i get burnt out on certain meats alot and cant touch it again for months. First it was pork, then fish. chicken i can always eat but thats just me. keep some variety and dont make my mistake and find a certain protein source you like, and eat nothing but that for 4 weeks. Try mixing it up with turkey, lean steak, or tilappia (one of my favorite fish). also, adding meat to other foods is a new take on a classic. turkey chili, stew, chicken with soup, etc. My buddy Vance Turner who mentored me when I first started lifting said, "whatever it takes to get that shit down."
