Hello I'm going to do a 7 day fast I bought a juicer and I am going to juice my own fruit and vegetables and drink it 3-4 times a day I am going to drink plenty of water and was wondering how can I maintain my muscle. I'm thinking about getting my amount of protein from protein shakes and over this 7 day period I will be working out on a 5 day split
Monday- arms
Wednesday- chest
Friday- back
Saturday- legs and abs
Sunday- shoulders and traps
Is this fast ok to do will I be able to maintain my muscle or is it just a waste
I am also just doing this for fun and to see if I can
Thank yu

i personally think you would do just as well just eating healthy: fruits vegetables and lean meats
what exactly are you hoping to achieve with this fast?

Keep a close watch on your total caloric intake. You will probably be way over your what you need to match tdee and will gain weight is my guess.

Probably will also have moments of ravenous hunger and weakness but shouldn't lose too much muscle.

Good luck!

do the fast as long as at the end of each fast you meet your caloric requirements (more importantly protein intake) you will be fine. You actually preserve more muscle during fasts(or a heavily calorie restricted diet like 300 cals of total intake in a day) than a normal caloric restriction say 300-400 calories less from your TDEE(for instance 2600 cals).
Also try to fast only for 48 hours(consecutively) at maxium in juicing and have a refeeding period of regular food for about 8 hours . Its only after 72 hours of straight fasting will you then see muscle cannibalizing.

You're going on a 7 day fast in which you drink all of your calories? How is that a fast? Fasting = not consuming calories. Drinking calories =/= fasting. Am I missing something here?

^This.  You're proposing an all liquid diet, which some people enjoy from time to time.  I have a word of warning though - even if you use a blender to blend up whole fruits, the lack of fiber in a liquid diet will make your digestive system a little upset, and you'll have some pretty unpleasant, incredibly dense bowel movements.

If you still want to try it out, I recommend adding some kind of powdered fiber additive to your drinks to help keep things moving smoothly.

I am also lost with what you are trying to accomplish here.

Fasting is done to give your organs a rest from digesting so they can focus on other tasks your body needs like healing or detox your body.   Juice fasting can be good as it will prevent your glucose levels to fall to much and some vegetable have detox properties + it will alkanilize you (most of the people have acid ph with modern diets).   I dont see the point of taking protein if you are going to fast, as protein puts extra work on your liver/kidneys.  If you take protein you are not fasting.

I read 24 hour fasts  like from 8pm till next 8pm does not canibalize your muscles.   I have read also that your muscles canibalize after the third fasting day.  Im not no sure about this, but a 7 days fast should definitively have an impact on your lean muscles.

All what I understand is that you pretend to workout on a heavy caloric deficit.   Good luck with this but you may not be able to complete your workouts and you will end up losing weight(including muscles).

could some shed light on edu's statement that only after the third day of a fast muscles deplete?

i would consider a strictly water fast however would not want to loose muscle

I'm trying the same thing basically. Only at the end of day 1 and I'm absolutely starving. I'm searching more on muscle after the third day but I may just do this for 2 days. Since I'm not taking in any protein and don't want to lose much muscle.
