Get out a piece of paper and write down the benefits of getting/staying in shape and the pleasures you get from your junk food. If you came up with a list of benefits staying in shape shorter than the junk food list, you'll have to either make sacrifices or give up. If your "in shape" list is longer, well, that's what you think about next time you see a free bag of chips Wink You can also bring healthy sacks with you that will dull your appetite for junk!

it's hard to beat the convenience of ready-made free junky food
and rare to find an in-shape person that works around it all day but it can be done!

where do you work ?
what are the hours ?
how long is ur commute?

do you have a freezer/fridge? and access to the major supermarkets?

Nothing to it really. You just simply don't take or eat it. Plain and simple.

i was the same a couple of months ago completely addicted to junk food and if someone had of given me a piece of fruit or veg i would of thrown it in the bin but as time progresses in your new healthy lifestyle your taste buds change and you will begin to like fruit and veg until the stage you would like a bag of fruit from the shop than a mars bar or a bottle of coke

my advice is start the transformation slowly even if its only eating 1 piece of fruit a day and gradually building up another and another until the thought is automatic of having a piece of fruit or veg and you wont even think of junk food now what i do to settle the cravings is have a cheat meal on a sunday afternoon/evening whether that be a takeaway or a can of coke and a bag of crisps it just settles my head for sugar and if you do that will stay on the straight and narrow

Raw veggies they'll fill you up be warned however they will make you gassy. If you have a sweet tooth bring in 2-3 pieces of fresh fruit. Another thing that I do is think to my self how they are made, for example fast food beef is made from ammonia treated slaughter house left overs so fast food (and grocery store ground beef) flat out disgusts me. Most snack foods are made in a lab and the prospect of eating chemicals is really an appetite represented. What I would suggest you do is bring in 1oz (1/4 cup) of unsalted nuts as nuts contain a small amount of protein and healthy fats that will fill you up just be sure to use the right portion size.

I understand you, it is hard to leave something when you are being exposed to it.  I do not eat junk food but I allow myself cheat meals once a week or once every two weeks  (this is pizza for me lol).  There are some junk food that should not be consumed even in your cheat days).

Here are some tips I can give you:

    1) research and keep researching about how junk food has/will affect your health and your appearance.  Remember your body is like your temple, you have to take care or it, also people not only judge you because of how you are but how you look.

2)Keep hydrated.  Drink a lot of water during the day.  Sometimes when we are not well hydrated the body confuses it with hunger.   If you are only drinking water when you are thirsty you are doing it wrong.  Don't allow yourself to go thirsty.

3)Do not starve.  If you are starving you are going to run to the foods you are craving.  So have a healthy diet with fiber in it.  Here it is a secret,  the brain is constantly looking for 2 aminoacids to determine hunger: triptophan and glutamine. Whey protein is excelent for this, not only to build muscle. How often do you get hungry? every 3 hours or so?  Thats how often you should take your whey protein.   If you are craving sweets? take your protein,  if you are craving fats, take your efa (essencial fatty acids).

Finally stop hanging out where you know there is junk food. I you are full there is no problem because you wont want more food when you are full.  But if you are starting to get hungry and you still are weak thats not a good choice.   I can walk around and not consume but its because that type of food grosses me now that I know what it does. It does not help me in my goals and I dont want it.  Write your goals and stick to them.

I also suffer from this lol.  Eating unhealthy is a habit and also an addiction which is hard to just give up cold turkey.  It's like giving up smoking cold turkey.  What I personally did to get of the junk is I started eating portion sizes.  I looked on the back and I actually followed what it said.  I started with 2 snacks a day for a week then 1 snack a day for a week then 1 snack a day for only 5 days a week then 3 then 1 then 0.  It took me about 6 weeks to fully detox off the junk but I don't even have cravings now Cheesy  Stay safe!

Put it this way : not eating it - nice body , you will feel better about yourself , you will live longer
eating it - 10 to 20 minutes of useless satisfaction.

All this advice is really spot on.

Something that's helped me personally is doing what I like to call, "translating your cravings". And what I mean by this is that, before you start snacking on anything, ask yourself what you're really craving. So if the answer is "a doughnut", break down the craving into the essentials. Well first off, a donut is sweet. It's also a carbohydrate and a fat. So find something that could suitably match this and also counter your craving. For most folks, this would be something like some whole grain toast with peanut butter and honey (or real maple syrup). I use this technique a lot. I crave something and then I break it down into its simplest form. If it's chips, break it down into what chips are. You're craving fats, carbohydrates and probably some heavy flavoring. So have some whole grain rice (or quinoa), with some olive oil, herbs, spices, and a touch of sea salt. Our cravings are very important and we SHOULD listen to them. But we should satisfy them in ways that are optimal to our health.

The key to stop eating junkfood is to keep yourself from getting hungry. And by that I don't mean that you should constantly eat. I just mean that you should always have a healthy snack with you on the go. So every time you do feel like a candy bar, you eat whatever healthy snack you brought with you, and the craving you have for that unhealthy snack will go away Smiley

f.eks. I like to eat a piece of fruit or a eat some nuts in between classes.

You just need to find self-control. There is only so much you can do with meal frequency or with the quality of your diet.

As many have said, ultimately it all comes down to your willpower. I have found that I can resist cravings better if I just find something to do, so usually I just study Grin Also, doing cardio lessens my cravings for some reason. I dislike the idea of running +4-5 hours per week for nothing.

Hire a Marine drill instructor for a month, to scream in your face and verbally abuse you when you feel like eating junk food. After about 3 weeks, your will power would have increased from 30% to 100%.
