Hello everyone, I'm new here. I've started watching Scooby's videos on youtube last year and it helped a lot. And I'm here once again to get in shape and I'm doing as much research as possible. I'm getting started on this again.

Anyways, a little about myself. My goal is to lose weight. I would love to get muscular but that's extremely hard from what I've heard. All of this calories thing really confuses me. Sometimes I can't keep up with eating as much as I actually have to and end up seeing little to know results at all.

I currently have a job where I have to wake up at 3 am for work and I get off at Noon. I have the rest of the day to work out right? Not exactly. I can only manage to sleep about 4 to 5 hours a night unfortunately (it used to be less). Sometimes I take a nap for an hour or 2 after work but I try to avoid this because that's one of the reasons I sleep very little at night. Even then, not taking naps doesn't seem to help.

As you can see, I'm awake most of the day and I noticed I get very hungry through out the day especially when I am home. It's really been bothering me to say the least. Sometimes I don't even feel like cooking because I'm so tired or so hungry that I just have to grab something quickly. I also wake up very hungry.

I'm not sure what to do about this. Am I eating very little? Well, maybe I am. I made a list of what I usually eat on a normal work day:

Breakfast (3 am) - 1 cup of mixed berries, 1/2 cup of oats, 1 cup of low fat milk
Snack (about 5:10 am) - Walnuts (23g), 16 oz of blueberries
"Lunch" (around 8:40 am) - Eggs (sauteed cooked), some fruit or beans
"Meal" (12:15 pm) - Peanut Butter Sandwich (whole wheat bread, 2 tbsp organic pb), 16 oz of blueberries, 1 banana
Post Work Out (4:40 pm) - Protein Shake
Meal 2 (5 or 6 pm) - Chicken Breast with some marinara sauce, 2 cups of normandy blend veggies, brown rice or whole wheat spaghetti.
And during the night I either drink a cup of milk or a casein protein shake. I normally sleep at 10 pm. I'm still trying to sleep earlier but I can't yet.

Looking at it right now, it definitely seems like I am eating very little. The only solution would be to eat more but I don't feel comfortable doing that. I probably can eat snacks like carrots, organic puffed rice cakes, and maybe more fruit (hope I'm not eating too much fruit) to fill me up. Maybe I can eat another bowl of oatmeal.

I'm just hungry the whole day and this is becoming a problem for me unfortunately. I get home, I eat the PB sandwich, I take a nap, I wake up to work out, but I can't because I'm so hungry that I don't have energy in my tank (or I'm just exhausted whether or not I nap). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to resolve this because once I do, I'll get back on track. I wasn't facing this problem last year when I didn't have a job and was only attending college. I was actually eating similarly too (well, I was eating the eggs with veggies and brown rice/spaghetti).

To me it seems you do eat very little and the only solution for that is to eat more. You will end up losing muscle as well as fat if you continue down that road.

Im seeing a stress problem here

sleep time for you:
7pm - 3am

work time:
3am    -   12-1pm?

If you do not sleep your 8 hours you get stress.  Stress make people hungry and fatter.  First thing you need to do is to organize yourself. You cannot expect anything if you are sleep deprived.  It is not the same to sleep short periods than the complete 8 hours.  Stress is one or may be the main reason of chronic fatigue.  Fix this to improve your energy levels, then start adding some exercise.  Exercise will help you sleep.

I understand that you may not be able to sleep till 10pm.   We all have a biological clock that works with the earth.  So my recommendation would be to turn off the lights around 5,6?   Melatonine is produced in complete darkness.  If you are getting the light, you wont  be able to sleep.  So, close up the windows, turn off the lights, avoid tv,pc, etc.  And relax yourself so you can be sleeping at 7.

I don't really understand; you're hungry yet not comfortable eating more, even though you know you're not eating enough?

If you're not eating enough, and you're hungry, EAT.

If you're not eating enough, and you're hungry, EAT.

That can be a real problem. Meaning the feeling that you are eating enough even though you knew you are not. It's especially common among young people because food has been demonized to them.
