How much protein do I need to build muscle?

  • The exact number is not agreed upon, but somewhere between 0.4 to 1 g per lb of bodyweight. More on it on this page and in this video.

What actually is protein?

  • Protein is involved in a lot of functions in your body, not only in building muscle. Have a look at this video.

Do you have a list of how much protein is in foods?

Protein shakes are so expensive. Is there an alternative?

What should I eat and drink before and after working out, anyway?

But what are carbohydrates?

  • Simply said they are sugar and are the number one thing your body uses when energy demand is high (fast running, weightlifting etc.). This video puts some more light on it.

And fat?

  • Fat is used when energy demand is low. Your body also builds fat to store energy when more is available than it needs. Have a look at the Losing Weight FAQ for more information on it.

Can I drink alcohol when I want muscles?

I heard you need to eat lots and lots to get muscles. Is it true?

Should I use multivitamins?

  • You don't need them when you have a balanced diet that includes vegetables and fruits. Most likely vitamins from pills also won't work as well as when they are from the food they naturally occur in, as explained here and here.
