I don't think red meat is bad for you, but white meat is probably healthier. I know some professional athletes (Brock Lesnar and Matt Hardy) who have benefited form elimanting red meat from their diet or at the very least limiting it

Is it because of its fat content? It is the highest food in protein.

It is high in protein, but it is also high in fat and can be hard for some people to digest.

Red meat doesn't have to be bad. Go for lean cuts and you'll have a good source of protein and minerals like iron. Just don't eat all too much (like anything else basically) and you'll be fine.

    Red meat is fine.

Like was said focus on lean cuts though. Purchase lean ground beef for example or lean beef patties.

Mixing up ground beef with scrambled eggs in the morning or pasta at night = awesome.

I buy the normal minced beef. About 14% fat I think

Cheaper, good source of fat etc etc

If I'm gonna work-study for a long time and not have a chance to eat frequently, I get a large portion of fatty red meat for breakfast. That's what keeps me full for longest, haven't found any better food in terms of satiety. I don't feel hungry until evening, and I don't think "Protein every 2-3 hours" applies in this case because it takes pretty much time to digest all the fat and meat.

I must agree with this, red meat is one of the only foods that can sate my appetite. It's one of the main reasons I include it in my diet.

I limit red meat when cutting due to fat content ONLY. Even if it's lean, chicken breasts only have 1 gram of fat in them per 4 oz. It's pretty hard to get lower than that when consuming meat products.

When I'm trying to gain muscle I'll allow more red meat, but only USDA certified organic meat or meat from a local farmer that I know does not use hormones and other substances that may cause harm (before I get flamed, remember I said MAY:)

My grandmother and my college health professor both limit their intake of red meat to one day per week. My grandmother is 94 in perfect health so I take her word on most food items. Jack Lalanne has stated that he hasn't had red meat since he was bodybuilding when he was told he HAD to eat meat to be successful. I'm not using this to validate myself only to share my sources and feelings on the subject.
