If i'm trying to lose fat with a deficit of 500 calories per day, (2900-500 = 2400 per day) and I burn 500 calories in the gym then does that mean I should only consume my target calories or can I consume an additional 500 calories? For example I consume 2400, burn 500 at the gym 2400-500 =1900 then can I consume an addtional 500 and still lose fat? so 2400 - 500 + 500 = 2400 = my target? Hope this makes sense!

Try somehow to stick around 2300 - 2400. 1900 is not enough , you will end up losing muscle.

I feel like me and you have been disagreeing a lot Raul...  Cheesy My bad not meaning to.  Grin

Not true... I'm eating that everyday now to lose fat/gain muscle and that's only 100 calories less then my TDEE.  Undecided I'm lazy otherwise if I did a little more like an average person it would be about 2300 for my TDEE. It all depends on his size, height, etc. as to what his calories are. But yes for him 1900 isn't enough from the what it looks like. Like Raul said try to stay near you calorie goal.

And to answer your question if you burn the calories then yes you can eat the 500 calories you burnt off. As long as your still eating 100-500 calories less then your TDEE to continue losing weight. Just make sure you don't cut your calories to much. Also, if you're a beginner you can lose fat/gain muscle it's just a slower process. What are you using to figure out you calories? Just curious... I'm not a big fan of Scoobys calorie calculator sense it over estimates calories and under estimates.

Yes you can eat an additional 500 cal but only if u really burn 500 in the gym. But lifting itself burns very little, maybe 200 cal in an hour.

500 calories is not a lot to burn through cardio if that's what you're doing at the gym. It's pretty realistic if that is a combination of lifting and cardio, but as flako said 500 is a pretty big amount to burn from just lifting unless your big.

Keep your to your target by creating a deficit by either eating less or exercising more. I think you're on the right track already incorporating exercise to reach this target though!
