Ridiculous. people need to learn self control and take more owner ship in their lives instead of letting their government give them a scape goat for their bad habits

Well, sugar has mostly, if not all, negative effects. They shouldn't regulate it though, people need to learn to develop self control

You know, that's exactly what I thought. How about instead of spending money on regulating it, they just use the money for, uhh, sugar awareness. What was interesting was in the article they were talking about people drinking too much soda and getting a lot of sugar from that. I don't know of any sodas on the market right now that do not use high fructose corn syrup instead of straight up sugar. Yeah I know it's basically the same (even though I believe HFCS is worse) but they should be going after that, too. Really, I think there should be some sort of advertising or education out there telling people to read the nutritional facts and that soda is just generally bad for you. Frickin' duh.
Maybe there'll be no more McDonald's sweet tea, too.

Well, I've had ~88g honey today, between a couple delicious smoothies and other concoctions, so there is a good chunk of my simple sugar intake for the day. But no, I don't really every use that much sugar ever.

In small quanities it's actually good because it gives you a boost but too much can cause diabetes.

The senior author of the paper was Lustig, classic fructophobe. He makes some good points, but it's nothing we already didn't know. Keep all processed foods out of your diet, end of story.

well if you drink 5 cans of soda a day eat ice cream and chocolate on a daily basis then yes it is, however if you limit your added sugar to at most a few teaspoons a day then no.

REFINED sugar has no nutrients and too much of it causes diabetes but at least it has the benefit of giving you energy and moving amino acids into your muscles, alcohol is a sugar aswell but its an extra +3 nutrient less calories that dehydrate you and prevents you from absorbing certain nutrients and kills your liver, and i might be ignorant on the subject of tobacco but i believe eating a pinch of skoal has no nutrients or calories for that matter, just alot of tasty yummy pesticides and poisons that according to the surgeon general might cause certain types of oral cancers, and probably your digestive tract if you are actually eating it. xD
