Yeah, it ain't simple as stated in the title, sorry. I want to hear your opinion(s) on the subject of grapeseed oil (extract of grape seed, found as an abundant byproduct of wining). I've found an article on the web which I'll share with you right now:
Quote from: Article
Several studies have concluded that grape seed oil may be helpful in weight loss efforts. In 2003, Dr. Diego Moreno published his work on grape seed oil. In his research, he had discovered that grape seed oil had the ability to inhibit lipase and lipoprotein, both of which metabolize fat. This means that grape seed oil may help your body expel fat instead of absorbing and storing it.

A study in the Netherlands in 2004 concluded that consuming grape seed oil could reduce a person’s caloric intake by 4%. This was significant, especially in diets where a large amount of calories are consumed daily. This may be attributed the oleic acid content of grape seed oil. Oleic acid is thought to make you feel full faster. Grape seed oil contains about 7 times more oleic acid than olive oil!

Another study in Spain in 2010 found that grape seed oil may turn on receptors in the cells that accept insulin. This is good news for those who want to lose weight and great news for those who are diabetic. In diabetes, cells become insulin-resistant. The body can no longer secrete enough insulin to balance the blood sugar, which is why some people with diabetes take insulin. Grape seed oil may help cells recognize and accept insulin again, diminishing the need for insulin medications.
My opinion is that this sounds too good, and another thing I noticed is that even if all this is true, they didn't post studies showing any downsides to the grape seed oil, and as we all know, every nutritional product has both good sides and bad sides. So, feel free to post anything you might know about grape seed oil or think about the mentioned article and I'll be happy to read it and eventually reply. Cheers Cheesy

EDIT: Additional intel
Quote
Studies have shown that grapeseed oil can successfully reduce high cholesterol levels as well as hypertension. In a study conducted in 1993 patients consumed 43g of the oil on a daily basis. Within 3 weeks, their HDL on average had gone up by 13% and their LDL had gone down by 7%. Other research has demonstrated that grapeseed oil has the potential to prevent the proliferation of cancer cells and to reduce damage to healthy cells induced by chemotherapy.

I usually follow the principle "if it's too good to be true, it quite probably is". Haven't been forced to change that view yet Cheesy

Inhibiting lipase sounds like a terrible idea. Yes it helps store fat, and it also helps metabolise fat. It's part of pancreatic function too. Lipoprotein inhibition sounds even worse. Lipoproteins as in high density (HDL) and low density (LDL) lipoproteins are used for cellular repair in your body.

I agree with you bro, but do you think that the statements above are correct (valid). I see that it's not really applicable for everybody or even plausible to get the same results, but just for the studies do you think they are true or false? By true/false I'm asking if you believe they were conducted by independent unbiased and unfunded research parties and/or councils, and above all is the result I've found on the website truthful?
