Quick note: I do eat protein filled foods throughout the day ontop of whey protein.

Ever since I started working out, well, maybe one year in, I started taking protein powder. It worked (of course) because it finally balanced my protein in my diet and I gained mass alot faster than the previous year. I've always been taking 2 scoops (60g) after every workout every day, and I eat about 10g of protein every 2 hours throughout the day ontop of that.

Note: 60g of protein is 60% of my daily protein needs

Now

Whats more effective? Getting 60g after my workout (3-5pm)so it can quickly get the best recovery leading up until the following morning or taking 1 scoop in the morning and 1 scoop after I workout and have the steady stream be stopped during sleep (rather than stockpiled by taking it all in the afternoon, if your body even does hold it)

Im *thinking* your body can only absorb so much protein at once, so drinking 2 scoops may be overkill and im not fully absorbing 30% of it or something.

Quote
The body does not store protein, rather it takes what it needs from both the amino acid pool and what is derived from food sources and uses it for the necessary functions mentioned. When more protein is consumed than what the body needs, the protein is processed through the liver, filtered through the kidney and then excreted through urine. For this reason, Berardi recommends that women need only to consume 20 to 30 g of protein at a time, and for men, 40 to 60 g is sufficient.

Apparently 60g will be absorbed

Unless you're completely fasted, even a scoop of 30g of whey will take 3 hours to be absorbed.  If you're not, it will take quite a bit longer.

If you were completely fasted, 2 scoops (60g) would take 6 hours to be absorbed.

If you had 3 scoops (90g) it would take... that's right, 9 hours to be absorbed.  Whatever discrepancy might lie in 10g=1hour will be MORE than made up for in solid stomach content.

So spread them out..... Preferably before and after workouts to get the benefits correct?
