I live in a dorm on a campus where all residents are required to have a meal plan to use in the dining halls or in fast food locations around campus. There is a salad bar in the dining hall that contains cottage cheese that I believe is whole (just judging by the taste). I always take some of it to the dorm and eat it before bed with some whey mixed in. Would it be worth it to invest in keeping some fat free cottage cheese or should I keep using the whole cottage cheese that is "free" to me?

If you're not desperate to reduce your calorie intake, I would just eat the cottage cheese that they provide you =)  There is nothing wrong with fats, as long as they don't cause you to exceed your caloric budget.

It's good as it has little fat, it works then like slow digesting protein. Helps you prolly even sleep better.

I personally prefer cottage cheese with fat over to one without it when going to bed. Even better: cottage cheese with fat, protein shake and some green veggies.
