in terms of calorie content, it doesn't matter; 500 calories from fast food is no different than 500 from home.  however the quality of the food at home surely would be a lot better; a lot less artificial crap in it depending on what you buy, so it's better for overall health.

At a fast food resturant, usually it is what it is... A sodium bomb most often, or a greasy trans fat covered mess, or something with loads of sugar. Fortunately though, you can find some good options, if you keep your hands off the ranch, though they still usually have horrible calorie to protein ratio's. At home, you can control these values though, as you manipulate the product itself. Learning how to cook is a really good skill for a person practicing good nutrition, though takes expirementation and practice.

Yes, as long as you control portion sizes and cook healthy food

There's just been a YouGov poll published in the UK "showing" that home cooking is more likely to make you fat than eating out, sponsored by WeightWatchers and based on dodgy interpretations of the data  Roll Eyes  Sooo transparent wheeling out that stuff at this time of year, gits  Evil

actually fast food is really close to the label nutrient wise because it is standardized and doesn't change from order to order unlike made to order restaurants where a chef puts it together by eyeballing portions

Home cooked meals will make you a better chef- assuming you do all the home cooking yourself and not rely on microwave tv dinners.

If you are a better chef you will have more control over all of the ingredients that go into your mouth and not have to worry about how your product taste tests in the mass market of overweight 15 - 30 year olds.

Interesting. I'm surprised everyone is answering yes. Where is your evidence? Assuming equivalent macros and calories there is no difference, at least in the short-term.

Good read, if you have the time.

If I eat fast food before working out I feel sick but I feel fine if I have a regular meal at home.

    Anecdotes are fun.

If I eat a home-made meal that has hot peppers in it then my workouts are hard to get through. I've had plenty of good workouts following a McD's meal. Achieved Personal Records even.
