Well, a notch is a cut - but close enough!!
I had to make one in my belt too recently. Now my jeans look a bit pinched and stupid if I admire myself in the mirror too long - didn't really intend on taking a couple inches off the waist either! Oh well.
Good stuff with getting down there, something tells me you'll definitely be at 34 by x-mas!!

Reason # 1 million three (or so) why not to measure your weight everyday. For those that do not know is missed it it was thanksgiving in Canada this past weekend. This means people pigging out on turkey or ham or any other food. Now for me this is REALLY bad. I had 3 dinners to go to and each place either my mother, my mother-in-law or my friend's wife were pushing the you don't look full here have some more. Now I know my stomach now says that its full with less food. But still I had to pack it back. Even though I ate clean, little fat, little sugar (2 slices of pumpkin pie) the sweet potatoes and turkey made me increase 4 lbs in 3 days. Now I know this is not body fat (yet) and most will pass right through. But dang it was a rude awakening this morning on the scale. Needless to say the jump rope just got used for 1 hour and I will not eat turkey today (ham instead) and go to the 6 meals a day. So for the american friends. Be warned your stuffing is comming...

canadianguy...
how about nutrition?? do you take whey protein??
i dont use any supplement. I just eat whatever i want. here's a sample of my meal plan in a single day
1st snack after waking up - milk (choco powdered) it is not a non fat/low fat...just the simple powdered milk breakfast - 1 cup white rice + beef or chicken 2nd snack - 240ml low fat milk lunch - 1 cup white rice + beef or chicken or canned tuna post workout - same as lunch + milk (same as my 1st snack) dinner - 2 slices wheat bread with peanut butter, beef or chicken, apple last snack - 1 glass low fat milk
my diet is like this because someone told me that muscle mass comes from lifting weights. not food.(ofcourse, protein is also impt. but we really dont need that much)

It looks like a good plan. Meybe switch to brown rice for more nutrients and add a few more fruits (banana's are king). Remember the mention of 1 gram per lbs of body weight it to reach heights like Scooby. Not everyone wants that and until you reach a certain plateau changing to add more protein will not help much. Even Scooby said he was successful with 3 meals a day until a certain plateau then he changed it to acheive more. It all depends on goals and where you are in relation to the goals.

Just to be clear. I am NOT the guy in the videos. A) he is WAY more fit then me B) Less hairy then me C) I hate pictures and cameras in general. My wife considers herself lucky for the wedding pictures. None except licence since then.
That said. YES I would love to be like the video and that is one of my personal goals.

Hi, canadianguy! I've been checking thru your journal for a bit and I like what I see I'm not very experienced and can therefore not give you any special comments or tips but I like the idea of your workout. The whole "to exhaustion or <number> reps" looks really nice! I also like the fact that pretty much your only source of cardio is jump rope. Nice inspiration for people who don't like running Good luck in the future! Anton

A point on my number of reps. Once I reach them for 1-2 weeks without exhuastion I up the weights by 2.5 to 5lbs. This provide a slow steady incremental weights on the equipment/muscles.

Well last night I reach capacity of my dumbbells and barbell it terms of weights I have available to me. Since I’m REALLY cheap and want to save money for better holiday presents I decided to add another set to each routine I felt I could do more weight. WOW this was surprising but another set did strain me more. Guess the body got use to the good life at 3 sets. So I have slowed down ALL my motions to get 4-5 second positive and negative motion and where this is not enough added a set. Maybe by xmas I will get more weights but for now this is good enough for me atm.

Well winter is here which means tire replacement time. For those that read my profile last winter was very inspirational to my regained life style. Well it worked. The 20" felt like I remembered the 14" last year. Almost hurt myself as I figured they would be heavy and was not prepared for them being less. This is great motivation and great that I can see progress. I will never return to my old bad habits.

hey canadian guy, I was looking at your diary and it was shockingly weird how your path was similar to mine haha, we probably had different starting situations, but I was at 293 pounds last may and was also wearing 46' pants, and I'm now at 178 and probably 35' 36' (don't know yet) at 5'4, aiming for around 140.
I has to register to this forum to to say that I really feel you on that thanks giving diner, 3 pounds on my side. . . but I had to weigh myself you know :P And also that I really love your workout and I am currently stealing a lot of your good ideas.
Anyway, keep up the good work

Time sure flies. Even if I don't update this thread please note I am maintaining my routing. Right now I have added snow shovling to it. On dys that I have to clear the driveway I do not do cardio. I do not live in a city and the length and width of my driveway takes me 45 minute or more to clear it non-stop. Last year I would huff and puff and pant and scream and sweat and cry and give up and hurt my back... NOT THIS YEAR BABY!!!! Oh the snow is my slave now!!! I can do the driveay without hurting myself or rest every 10 minues. This is sooooo greate. Even when I do the end of it to clear where the plow pilled it high I still have teh stamina and strenght to work through it. AWESHUM!!! I feel 18 again (but not bullet proof ) One really does not understand untill they have lost and found what is missed... Well this is very addictive. I cannot see me stopping this renewed lifestyle at any cost this is to much fun...

WooHooo!!!! Not that xmas is here tomorrow but I can state my goals are achieved (almost). Goals Fit in my 34" jeans by xmas 09; 46" down to 38" 36". Check. Well a little snug (don't need a belt), and my wife complimented me on my but... Get abs(currently resting in a fat blanket) This one is a long carry over. I think by xmas 2010 I should reach that but for now the belly fat and skin need a little more time to adjust. The belly is not bulging to much so I and VERY HAPPY. Drop weight to 180lbs, now @ 188 Check, rrr well 181. YAY!!! Close enough to count a success. Maintain 180 for 1 year. Replace fat with muscle. This is now my goal. Still doing cardio and still eating well I may dip to 170 as I still have some fat but I have definition in the arms, chest, back, shoulders and a few spots are quite hard (wife complains a little when snuggling my shoulder, she tried to tenderise it a few days ago and "hurt" her hand. I did almost feel sorry... Now for the new 2010 goals. Well i would like to increase my strength quite a bit. I don't really know what is the measure for that so I have to think for a few weeks. But I for sure will want to maintain my weight lost unless I gain muscles (so for a year I don't think I will loose or gain weight simply replace fat with muscles) Wish me luck!.
