Alright, after making multiple progress diaries like 220 progressions, Andrew's sled pulling diary, and Andrew's goal diary, here is my best and final one. This diary is meant to record weight, reps, workout composition, anything new I'm trying, cardio, what ever! On this first post, I will have a list of areas that I'm experienced in if anybody is thinking about trying something new. But before that, here is my story.

I started weight lifting back in April 2009. I was about 5'7", 260lbs, age 12. I was very obese, and was tired of living that way, so another kid who was obese like me, and still is to this day, asked me to come to weight lifting for the football team. I went, and had a blast doing bench press, upright rows, leg press, etc. As I got more advanced, my coach taught me how to squat, and JAMMER press. After a month or so of lifting, My neck thinned out, and my mom said that I looked like I lost weight. This is where it all started. I got very committed to weight lifting. I wanted to lose weight, and be a football star. The mile run came up at school, and my time had improved by almost 4 minutes. When I first did the mile, I got 15:00 flat. This time, I ran it in 11:41. Well, my first season of football came. I was only benching around 105, and squatting 115. As you can tell, I sucked. I didn't start, strained both my quads, and stood on the sideline at every game. I could barely make it through conditioning because of being out of shape, and sometimes didn't complete every drill. However, I stuck with it. My football coach would pound the phrase "Champions are made, not born" into our heads. I believed it. The day after the football season ended, I went into the weight room with one of the starting players who at the time hated me, and our Defense coach who is a power lifter. He taught me a bit about lifting, and we started to get the hang of it. I went out and ran the mile by myself, and ran it in 11:21. This was better, but I realized I needed to work on my endurance. As time passed, my muscles got bigger, and I could flex every muscle in my body. Winter lifting and preparation came along, and I started to get into cardio. Around this time, I weighed about 238 pounds. I started using the elliptical machine that I have had for years. We did some speed drills on ladders, and flexibility training. I started to do things like the icky shuffle, squat jumps, and prisoner squats at home in my own cardio routine. This got my speed up a bit.  When winter ended, I started to slack on my cardio, and lost my speed. Eventually, I picked it back up. This is about the time that I discovered Scooby(march), and it changed my life. I got so into lifting and cardio, that I made an account on this forum in April. My goal was to get under 220lbs. I learned quite a bit about bodybuilding, and kept looking into it as I went on. I start putting together my own home gym and what not back in Christmas, and I noticed that I was missing a pullup bar. However, I couldn't do pullups. I started doing them assisted around May, and I can finally do one chinup as of yesterday. During spring football practice, I noticed that I was good at football. My dream came true. I was playing center, left tackle, and left guard for the second string on the varsity team, even though I am playing Freshman football. My confidence was boosted like crazy. I got quicker, increased the cardio, the lifting, the intensity, everything. The mile run came up in school. This is where I had to prove myself. 8:30. In a years time, I went from 15 flat to 8:30. I couldn't believe it. I started doing things like sled pulls for cardio. It worked for awhile, but then I started to stop losing weight. I was 227 when I bought my first scale. Sled pulls got me down to 225, and then stopped working. I knew I had to pick up the elliptical again. My nutrition perfected around this time. It took me multiple months since April to cut out things one by one. I learned all about TDEE/BMR and whole grains, complex carbs, simple carbs, protein, healthy fats, etc through this forum. And from then until today, My bench press max is 200, and squat is at least 300. I weigh 220 flat, and am a team captain on the football team. I'm starting left tackle on both sides of the ball, and am the strongest lineman. I'm sexier, stronger, faster, and have worked harder than any of the people that spent their days making fun of me. This was my comeback, and I'm addicted to it. The girls are all around me now. My life has changed completely, and I want all of yours to change as well. If I did, any of you can. - Written On August 7th, 2010. Read the diary for update info.

However, I learned that this coach's lifting program was terrible, it consisted of machines, partial rep squats, no deadlifts, and bad form on every exercise, and a senseless full body program with way to much volume. Now, I am with a real weight lifting coach after the firing of Bob Forgrave, who knows what he is doing. I now know how to squat, deadlift, power clean, etc. My strength training is getting better and better, and I am getting bigger and bigger. I now am looking to reach a goal on 235lbs pounds, and put on at least 10lbs of muscle this year. I am also looking to lose maybe.. 5lbs of fat. Nothing much though. With my explosive strength training, and the future speed training that I will be starting in January, I will be a beast on the football team as a Sophomore. The decision though, is to either start on JV, or be 2nd string on Varsity. There are a ridiculous amount of Seniors this year, and 4/5 members of the starting Offensive line are all veterans. It will be tough, but we will see where I get to. - Written on December 1rst, 2010. Read the diary for updated info.

Friday was my lat/abs day. Not too intense on the abs, I'm going to get back into Scooby's advanced ab workout on my leg day.
My assisted pullups are not like Scooby's. I rest my feet on a chair behind me, they are much harder. Just like as if someone was holding onto your shins

    Lats:
    Chinups: 1x1
    Assisted Pullups: 1x8, 1x5
    Assisted Chinups: 2x9, 1x8, 2x7, 1x6
    DB rows: 3x7: 80lbs

    Abs:
    Push Crunch 1x12 65lbs
    Weighted Bicycle: 1x(idk) 25lbs
    Lying Leg Raises: 1x12
    Leg raise+ Toe touch 1x12

Started up the elliptical for the first time in 11 or 12 days. I was at the Boyscout Jamboree for 10 days, which required lots of walking (I did not want to be there, my grandpa forced me to go) I broke all my records on my elliptical machine. Burned 939 Calories in 30 minutes, and went for 40 minutes total.

Today (Saturday) was my first shoulder day on the 5 day split. I never really worked shoulders hard. Just a few sets of DB military press and BB upright rows. This is because on my full body workout, your shoulders get killed during chest and lat exercises. This was my first serious shoulder day. After watching some Mark Rippetoe videos on the deadlift and power clean, I attempted some lightweight DB clean and presses. I have just recently switched from DB to BB military presses, so my BB weight isn't that heavy yet.

    Shoulders:
    BB Military Press: 3x8 - 95, 105, 105lbs
    BB Upright Row: 3x8 - 95 lbs
    DB Clean&Press: 1x12(on each arm) - 40lbs
    Side Raises: 2x10 - 30 lbs
    Standing Rear Deltoids Flies: 2x8 - 40lbs

41 Minutes on elliptical. Broke all my records, again.

Today was my first real arm workout. I'm already seeing huge changes in my deltoids after yesterday's shoulder workout. I'm not going to do cardio today, my legs are kind of sore, so I want to save them for football and tomorrow's leg workout.

    Arms:

    Biceps:
    Chinups: 1x1
    Assisted chinups: 1x10, 2x8
    BB Curls: 2x8 - 65,70lbs; 1x6 - 75lbs
    Concentration Curls: 2x8 - 30lbs; 1x5 - 35lbs

    Triceps:
    Close Grip Bench Press: 3x8 - 135lbs
    Dips: 1x2
    Hip Pushups: 1x8
    French Press: 3x8 - 65, 70, 70lbs

    Brachialis:
    Reverse Curls: 1x6, 65lbs
    Incline Hammer Curls: 1x7, 30lbs

when you are able too, definitely begin to do deadlifts. i know that they are absolutely vital for rugby and rugby and football pretty much go hand in hand i guess.

I'm doing them today on my leg day, because I can't do squats anymore with the weight room being closed. I've watched plenty Mark Rippetoe videos, so this time, I should be able to execute the deadlift with perfect form.

nice one. well yeah once your squatting again, deadlifts would be ideal on back day. you will be making great gains im sure in both and they will help a lot in football i can imagine.

I strained my left quad today at football practice, so no lifting today. I'll resume my leg day on Wednesday. I did the elliptical in the morning, which is why the problem occurred. Did 30 minutes of cardio, breaking my record on calories burned. 950 something. No elliptical, no lifting tomorrow. Only football practice.

Something tells me the calorie counter is off, I used one of the real expensive ellipticals at my weight room, and I burned about 2/3rds the calories I did on mine, however, on that elliptical you don't move your arms. On mine you do, so maybe it's different. Yeah, I kick my own ass on that thing ^_^

Oh, and my weight went down to 218, an all time low:D

No elliptical today or lifting today, just football practice. Quad wasn't bothering me as much, I'm icing it right now. Looking forward for my leg workout tomorrow, this week is all going to be heavy weight (5x5 most likely) except on assisted pullups of course, so hopefully I'll make some gains in strength.

Bodyweight hit an all time low today, 218 pounds.

Deadlifting was great. First time I executed the deadlift with proper form. I could tell because I didn't have any back pain when I was done. Thank the lord for Mark Rippetoe. This is my strength week, and I took a light leg workout. Only two exercises, but max intensity. + 4 sets of scooby's advanced ab workout.

    Legs:
    Deadlift 5x5 - 135, 185, 195, 205, 235lbs
    DB Lunges 5x5 - 55, 60, 60, 60, 65lbs

I'm only listing the first set of the ab workout.

    Abs:
    Weighted Crunches 1x20 - 45lbs
    Weighted  Crunches 1x9 - 35lbs
    Weighted Bicycles 1x8 - 35lbs
    Lying Leg lifts 1x12
    Crunches  1x15
    Bicycles 1x10
    Ab Leanback
