You can easily get that. Have you ever tried ramping sets?

You start at a weight at which you can do them comfortably for, im just using 5 sets because deadlift is hard enough as is:

Set 1: 225
Set 2: 275
Set 3: 300
Set 4: 335
Set 5: 345+

never tried it.  i would love to deadlift 500lbs though.

thing is, i wanna gain muscle too.  unfortunately that kind of routine wouldn't do too much for hypertrophy, as i'm only pushing myself in one set really.  if i did a pyramid however, starting 12 reps with maybe 275, and work my way up in weight and down in reps (until 5), that might work.

Pyramid would work well for you. Seeing as how you throw some heavy weight around like a game of catch, you should be able to do it.

Me however, i dont have great recovery and the 5x5 trick works wonders for strength which is my main goal now.

my personal goals for deadlift is at least 405lbs for 5 reps, (2.5x bodyweight) and squat 335 for 7 (below parallel, over 2x bodyweight).  i wanna get my bench up to 245-250lbs for 7 reps as well (bar to chest), dunno if that's gunna happen though.  squat and deadlift probably will, all this before july 2010, but benching i started a little late. Sad

by end of college, june 2013, here's what i wanna do, in 3 reps: deadlift 605lbs, squat 535lbs, bench 405lbs, standing overhead military press: 275lbs.

i estimate my current maxes in 3 reps to be: deadlift 385lbs, squat, 335lbs, bench probably 215lbs and overhead military press probably 155lbs.

so 70lbs a year increase in deadlift and squat, 60lbs a year bench and 40lbs a year overhead military press.  sounds realistic eh? Smiley

Those are some pretty high standards you've set for yourself.

The way you are progressing, im pretty sure you can hit all your desired lifts by July.

I want to get 95 lb dumbell rows for 15+ reps. Preferably 25 reps in a set. Only problem is, once i ge tthat, i need to start bringing in rolls of duct tape to the gym to tape weights onto the 100 lb dumbell if i want to get even more weight on them.

June 2013 means you are a freshman right? Same here.

    What are you studying?

    probably Mississauga as well.

605 deadlift for  on a bbing routine is crazy ( not impossible, just insane to actually see a person perform 6 reps and not just 1)

Mike's next goal after 605: Deadlift 1000 for 10 reps.

    haha, no way.

if i ever maxed out for a single rep on deadlift for 675-700lbs, that would be a dream come true.  Cheesy

appreciate it ozmuz.  yeah, the goals i have set for myself are really high i'm aware of that, and it's very likely i'll come up short.

but one thing's for sure: i'm going to work as hard as possible and strive to achieve these goals.  if i don't, i know i have done my best and there's nothing more i could have done.  my training is intense, i've learned so much from this forum, my nutrition is flawless and i'm doing everything i can; i haven't skipped a workout in 10 months and counting.  that's what most important.  Smiley
