What am I doing? I'm just getting dizzy!

Hi guys

Thanks in advance for reading my FIRST EVER progress diary. I have wanted to do one for years, but never had the confidence to take pictures of my body before. It was bad enough doing the following pictures, but I am a lot slimmer than I was before!

A quick bit of history about me

My name is Rocky and I'm 26 years old, from England, living in Germany currently for work. I am here for one year. Since my knee injury from playing semi-professional football (soccer) I put on loads of weight. I got to my heaviest weight last year, January 2010, weighing in at a massive 115kg (253lbs) down to 89kg (196lbs) that I am currently. It has been a hard path, but I have succeeded, so far......

I don't currently do weights as the gym memberships in Germany are too expensive for me, so I shall be making a home gym, buying the equipment bit by bit, so most of my diary right now will be just cardio, but hopefully in the next few weeks, I shall be adding some weights in. I am currently living with a German family as to save on living costs whilst i'm working here, so any food you see me write down, I don't buy myself, I just make use of what's available in the cupboards  Grin
Since living in Germany I have been weighing myself on a weekly basis, and will continue to do so. This has been my chart up to today:

23rd August-96.5kg (212.7lbs)
30th August-94.2kg (207.7lbs)
6th September-92.8kg (204.6lbs)
13th September-91kg (200.6lbs)
20th September-89.8kg (198lbs)

Ok, here it goes!! Please make comments, both positive and negative, as this will help me make better choices for workouts/food as I progress. And any advice given for my diary will be greatly received  Smiley

Vital stats as of 22nd September 2011

Age:26
Height: 5'10
Weight: 89.8kg (198lbs)

Here are some pictures of me currently:-

This is my large frame  Smiley

A pic of my currently arm mass, pleas excuse my very noticeable tan lines  Embarrassed

And a side pic of my gut!!

Today has been a bit of a lazy day, starting with museli and low free milk with banana on top and 2 glasses of water at 9am. For lunch it was potatoes with Quark (creamy cheese, the low fat of course hehe) with another 2 glasses of water at 13:00. At 15:00 I went for a very quick 5km cycle, medium intensity, and had an apple and 2 glasses of water straight after. For dinner I had a large piece of pork with brown rice, salad with walnuts and pineapple (lots of!) at 19:00

I will be going on a bigger ride tomorrow to make up for my lazy day!

Friday 23rd September 2011

Well as I said I would, I went on my longer bike ride today. I managed to clock in 52km (32.3 miles) in 2 hours and 44 minutes, pretty good going for me, plus I entered into another country in the process  Cool As I live in Germany, I am only 20km (12.4 miles) away from the French border, so I went to Strasbourg for a 'flying' visit.

Just to be purely random, here is a pic of me outside Strasbourg Cathedral. I look angry, but i'm just exhausted  Grin

Nutrition

08:30-Museli with low fat milk and 1 peach, 2 large glasses of water
09:00 left home for Strasbourg, arrived at 10:15. Had half a litre of water and another peach
11:40 Arrive home and have protein shake, half a litre of water and another peach
13:40 Had home made rice pudding
16:00 Had a low fat yoghurt
19:25 Had salad with pineapple and walnuts, homemade pizza using 2 tortillas, green and red peppers and some cheese plus chicken bits
20:15 went for a 5km (3.1 miles) walk as my legs are still aching so hoping that the walk will stop me legs from seizing!!

    Sunday 25th September 2011

    Nutrition
09:30 Wholemeal roll with honey and an apple. 2 large glasses of water
11:40 Leftover meatloaf with salad and a banana. 2 large glasses of water
13:00 1 low fat yoghurt and a banana. 2 large glasses of water
16:30 1 banana. 2 large glasses of water
18:20 1 small pizza with cheese, tomato, pepperoni and mozzarella (homemade) 2 large glasses of water
20:20 1 apple and 2 large glasses of water

    Exercise
Between 13:00 and 16:30 I went on a 10km (6.2 miles) walk at a moderate pace. At 19:30 I attempted some more pushups but whilst doing the exercise I had a tight pain in both of my pecs so I stopped. I guess my pecs are still sore from yesterdays exercise. Not sure how long to leave them to recover, any idea guys? May try again tomorrow.

I have been looking on the net for equipment and I may have some dumbbells coming my way in a few weeks so watch this space, I may be able to start doing weights instead of just cardio  Grin

Whilst on my walk today I came across a playground, which was empty, so I thought I would have an attempt at my first set of pullups. I have watched Scoobys video on how to do your first pull up! As you all know (if you have been following my diary  Wink) is that I currently weigh around the 89.8kg (198lbs) so it's quite a lot of weight for someone who doesn't work out. Well I gave it my best shot and I managed to successfully achieve 3 honest pullups, and then my arms felt like they were going to fall off!! I am really pleased with that, so that must prove that my muscles are getting stronger already. MASS ENTHUSIASM GAINED FROM PULLUPS  Grin  Grin

    Monday 26th September 2011

    Nutrition
09:30 museli with low fat milk and banana. 2 large glasses of water
12:00 after my run I had a banana and a protein shake. 2 large glasses of water
13:30 soup with carrots and cucumber and 1 small tsp of peanut butter to dip carrots in  Grin
15:00 2 large glasses of water
17:15 2 sandwiches with low fat cheese, lean ham and chilli sauce. 2 large glasses of water
    19:30 1 apple
20:15 1 low fat yoghurt and a museli snack bar. 2 large glasses of water

    Exercise
at 11:05 I went for my run today. For some reason I felt like I was running slower than normal, in a way demotivated but have no reason to be. I completed my 5km (3.2 miles) in 37min and 21 seconds. Not sure if that's a good time or not. Post and let me know people  Smiley Also whilst running, my left shoulder region was aching throughout the whole run. Any ideas on that?
I think I must have DOMS on my pecs as whenever I stretch my arms out, they are aching really bad. I wouldn't have thought my workout from Saturday would still be sore.......

Very nice and detailed diary! I'm following! Great job on the pullups. 90kg is pretty massive to pull up.

BTW: Are you sure you can't afford €16,90 per month for  a McFit membership?

One of the cheap gym chains under 20€/month. Maybe there's one close to you.

Their are many other cheap gym companies. Maybe there is one very close to you.
You could, for example, go to http://maps.google.de/ and type in >yourCity Fitness< to see what's around.
