Hopefully I’m posting this into the right section. I couldn’t decide if this belonged in the Nutrition section or the Recipe section but here goes!
I’m new to this forum and im interested in eating more nutritious (it’s a first for me lol) but this topic has confused me a little bit. I have seen some meal recipes that Scooby has posted and it contains veggies and beans (kidney beans), are you suppose to eat them raw or prepare them before hand by cooking it somehow? Many of the recipes posted up by the members of this forum also have beans in them. I’m not sure if you are suppose to eat these raw or boil it or what? Can someone point me into the right direction? Thanks =]

It's beneficial to cook them because it's better for the sulfur containing amino acids to be heat treated but over cooking will destroy the sulfur group (I guess they are the most reactive to heat). Other reason digestion, there is a noticeable difference in eating raw beans to cooked.

No harm or foul if you go either way.

I'll leave it in Recipes: It's an important or good question when browsing recipes.

It's better to cook beans.  I think most of the bean recipes are based on cooked beans or canned beans.  Most beans are sold as dried or canned.  Even frozen beans are cooked before frozen.

It's really really rare to find raw beans.

Unless you are committed to raw food, it's much tastier to boil or cook beans before you add them to anything.

Six packs: they're a state of mind.

I get packs of soya beans and black beans and you're instructed to follow a lengthy cooking process... the only time I've seen them say you can eat immediately is when I had a tin of black beans (I now get bags because the tins contain hardly any for the same price).

Yup, just throw them into a salad or soup. Or into your mouth Grin
Scooby eats canned beans when he is away from home or kitchen.
