I agree that plain oats are incredibly tasteless. I put vanilla whey powder in mine (though I've used chocolate before), and the result is deliciousness. Not to mention a great nutritional meal, with all the protein you need and the complex carbs. You just have to figure out how to get the consistency right, that's the hard part. Here's my method: -Put half a cup of oats in a microwaveable bowl. -Put just under 3/4 cup of water in the bowl. -Microwave the bowl for 75ish seconds. -Quickly take the bowl out, dump in your two scoops of protein (30ish grams of protein), and stir it up a little bit. -Add about 3/8 cup of water to the hot bowl, stirring it until you see no dry powder anywhere. -Microwave the bowl again for about 10-15 seconds. -Eat your delicious protein oatmeal

My favorite is to add raspberries or strawberries to my cooked oatmeal.
Some chopped nuts are good, also, just remember nuts are high in calories.

I'm not keen on oats either and wanted to find a way to incorporate them into my diet, so I eventually came up with the following: 1 cup oats (raw) 1 heaped tablespoon ground almonds 1 small yogurt (proper yoghurt, not that sugar water mix some manufacturers call yoghurt ) 1 frozen banana small amount of cold water, if you want a different consistency. Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth, or as smooth as you want, then pour into a large glass and enjoy. Since I've never enjoyed breakfast, even as a kid, I find this works great. The yoghurt, of course, can be whatever flavour you prefer, and the banana can be replaced with another fruit if you don't like bananas.

My favourite:
1 cup of oats 2 cups of milk 1 egg
Mix it all up in a bowl Put the bowl in the microwave for 5 minutes Stir Put the bowl back for another 5 minutes Eat
Two things I've noticed 'bout that recipe: first one is that it makes my stomach rockhard. Seems to give my abs a good boost, for some reason (might just be between my ears, though). Second one is that it seems to be a quick way to gain weight (again, might just be between my ears, or might be just me, as I gain weight fast)

you want bland?? my lunch EVERY DAY OF THE WORKING WEEK consists of; 50g oats 1 scoop unflavoured protein whey 2 tea spoons of wheat germ 1 cup of water PA POW!!!1 Blandest thing I have ever eaten, BUT it is nutritious, low in fat, high in protein and has great fibre. I do eat an orange afterwards as well. But yeah, thats about as bland as you will get. Plain oats and milk to me is like heaven. True story (edit for smiley)

I just finished a bowl of oats, in fact!
I take my trusty little non-stick pan, add the oats and double that in water. Then the heat goes on low while I prep the rest of my meals for the day. A few minutes later I add a bit of applesauce and golden raisins, stir it all up and cook for another minute or so.
This morning I added some mashed pumpkin ('tis the season) left-over from a great low-fat crust-less pie I made earlier in the week. Also a pinch of cinnamon and a splash of apple cider. I wish I had toasted the pumpkin seeds last night to add on top, but it was hearty and tasty nevertheless.
SO: Sweeten with fruits instead of refined sugars AND if you can add a vegetable (pumpkin), why not? Pumpkin has ~2g protein per cup, plus that delicious potassium and fiber doesn't hurt =]

This is what I do- Seasoned Oatmeal pumpkin spice in this case: ---------- 1xLarge Container of Oatmeal
3 parts Cinnamon true cinnamon, not saigon or cassia
2 part whole cloves bruised-meaning slightly crushed or maybe a few pinches of ground clove
1 part ground or grated nutmeg or even mace would work nicely
Mixing ---------- Pour in half of the oatmeal then spices, and finish filling to the top. It's crucial when you mix not to crush the oatmeal but evenly mix the spices so use a thin spoon.
Take note the color -the oats should be fairly tainted brown but not completely brown. Usually the cloves are very strong so the two you have to work with is nutmeg and cinnamon.
The longer it sits-the better.

I have a bit of trouble getting a diverse breakfeast each day. So I dug through my cupboard and found some plain oatmeal. The instructions say to cook it with water or milk. I tried it with milk, and it was not very appetizing Ill tell you that much. What are some things I can add to plain oatmeal to spice it up and that are healthy?

lol spice it up and healthy? Salsa!
No srsly you could probably sneak some fruit into it or if you're not afraid of a few calories you can put a little sugar in it to make it more palatable (I use a few drops of honey, personally). Whatever you do, don't put a banana into it until after it's cooked... microwaved banana tastes gross.
Scooby mixed some protein powder into it in his one video; maybe you could try that too.

Add pumpkin spice- you can make your own by combinding: Cinnamon (use true cinnamon not cassia "Saigon" cinnamon), Nutmeg, and Cloves.
Poppy seeds make a fairly good oatmeal.
Banana Oatmeal: When cooking regular oatmeal on the stove, at water boiling add the banana and cook until soft, then stir in the oats.
