My favorite thing to add to oatmeal (did it this morning) is apple sauce.  Be sure to get the unsweetened kind that's just apples and water (like Mott's "Natural" one).

It's still a pile of mush, but at least it'll be much more tasty.

These are a few of my favorite oatmeal recipes I made up that are amazing.

    Apple Vanilla Oatmeal
    1 cup Oats
    2 Cups of Water
    1 Scoop Vanilla whey powder
    1 Apple Chopped/minced
    Dash of Cinnamon
    Stevia (optional)

    1. Combine water and oats in a pot and bring to a boil for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Then  reduce heat to low-medium.
    2. Add the Whey and Cinnamon and use whisk to break apart the clumps of whey.
    3. Dice up the apple (there should be 1+ cup of diced peices) and add to the oatmeal. Add Stevia for desired sweetness.

    For you chocolate lovers.....
    Chocolate Banana Mudslide
    1cup oats
    2cups water
    1 scoop chocolate whey powder
1Tbsb Specail Dark Cocoa powder (Hershey's works well)
    1 Banana (mashed)
    Stevia (optional)

    1. Combine water and oats in pot and bring to boil for 30 seconds to a minute. Then reduce heat to low-medium.
    2. Add whey and cocoa powder and use whisk to break up powders.
3, Take banana and use a fork to mash it up then add it to the oatmeal.
    4. Stir and combine stevia for desired sweetness.

Ready Brek - so nice that I can eat it with just skimmed milk Smiley

(It's essentially oatmeal, but a much finer grain)

i like my little oatmeal i make everyday.

    about a cup of oatmeal
    (300calories)
    put some baking coco
    (40calories)
two small spoons of peanut butter
    (100calories)
and a little bit of honey(60calories)
might even put some no calorie sweeteners in it if i want it to taste really sweet:P

500 calories and taste so damn good:)
only thing i worry about is the fat in the peanut butter
i some times only eat it with coco and sweeteners cause i know the peanut butter is pushing it a little but i like both ways.

i'll have to try some of the other ways you all eat it now tho.lol

didnt read thru the entire thread but seems like im one of the less creative ones haha i just follow what it says on the package, 3/4 cup of oats along with 1 cup of water (they suggest 1-1/2 cups but i dont like it with too much water), no salt and i put that into the microwave for 2 minutes

i do slice a banana and put it into the bowl after it cooled down because plain oats simply are too boring and a fruit in the morning can never harm!

at the end i drink a glass of non fat milk for protein

well, it's nothing special but recently i changed my daily oatmeal breakfast (which used to be plain oatmeal with a banana cut into it and a glass of milk afterwards). after some time it got pretty boring so i changed it a bit (tho, the ingredients stayed the same).

i cook the oats as usual (without salt). in the meanwhile i take a banana and instead of cutting it into pieces i mash it up until it's nice and mushy. when the oats are done i throw the mush into the bowl and stir it up a bit so it's all spread. to cool it off i pour the glass of milk into it and voila, it's done Grin

mashing up the banana releases all it's sweetness which makes the oatmeal so sweet without adding sugar, sweeteners, honey or whatsoever.
this one fills you up for quite some time and it's a great boost to start the day (i like to drink a cup of coffee afterwards)

you probably will need more protein. i don't take any protein powder so i don't really know a lot about it but i think mixing the protein powder into the milk beforehand and then add it to the banana oatmeal would be your best bet. i guess chocolate protein powder fits well here but that's personal preferences

try it out, it definitely is going to be a sweet experience Cheesy

Add pumpkin spice- you can make your own by combinding: Cinnamon (use true cinnamon not cassia "Saigon" cinnamon), Nutmeg, and Cloves.

Poppy seeds make a fairly good oatmeal.

Banana Oatmeal: When cooking regular oatmeal on the stove, at water boiling add the banana and cook until soft, then stir in the oats.

Totally forgot about pumpkin spice...that stuff is DAAAANK!!!

I agree that plain oats are incredibly tasteless. I put vanilla whey powder in mine (though I've used chocolate before), and the result is deliciousness. Not to mention a great nutritional meal, with all the protein you need and the complex carbs.

You just have to figure out how to get the consistency right, that's the hard part. Here's my method:

-Put half a cup of oats in a microwaveable bowl.
-Put just under 3/4 cup of water in the bowl.
-Microwave the bowl for 75ish seconds.
-Quickly take the bowl out, dump in your two scoops of protein (30ish grams of protein), and stir it up a little bit.
-Add about 3/8 cup of water to the hot bowl, stirring it  until you see no dry powder anywhere.
-Microwave the bowl again for about 10-15 seconds.
-Eat your delicious protein oatmeal Smiley

I'm sorry to be the one that goes against everyones knowledge in this topic BUT anything you put in the microwave will lose it's consistency (90% +) Smiley If you think my knowledge is faulty  , just google it , you will see i am correct Smiley

1 serving of Oatmeal w/ sliced banana. Also it is much easier to digest when it is less thick, so add enough water.
