Hell no! In fact, the better the study, the worse the outlook for multivitamins. A multivitamin isn't nearly as effective as a vitamin consumed from food and some studies even suggest that they have no (positive) effect at all. So yeah, don't waste your money and eat them veggies!

It all depends on your diet. If your eating clean and healthy you don't really need them.

specific vitamin therapy is necessary if you have a deficiency or are at high risk for a deficiency.

I can't think of a reason to use multivitamins though.

    it may even harmful.

I have fibromyalgia, and i'm allergic to eggs, whey, casein, yogurt, and a high sensitivity to yeast and caffeine...so i use a multivitamin.
I actually stopped taking them for a while there and suddenly started getting heart palpitations when i worked out.  It got so bad that i was even waking up at night with them.
I went back on the vitamins (at my naturalist's suggestion) and a while later it went away completely.  Now i am fine again.

Hey SoCal, like everyone said, the best multi vitamin to take are from whole foods like veggies and fruits.
But if you must know, multi-vitamin supplements might not be safe for long term.

Check this article out, the website is owned by a former AskScooby Admin and member if you don't know.
