Since people are confused about this, ephedrine has not been banned in the USA, never was. EPHEDRA, the herbal version, was banned years ago and is no longer available. Starting January 1 2012, several brands of inhalers that used propellants being phased out are now banned, including primatene and bronkaid brands, but the medicine itself has not been banned-just the propellant used in the inhalers. There is confusion at some pharmacies about it from reports that I've read, but I went last week to a pharmacy and asked and no, bronkaid and primatene tablets are still available over the counter like they've been for years.

The only change I'm aware of beyond the Ephedra ban was that the pharmaceutical ephedrine was moved behind the counter, because dope heads would buy cases of it and do some alchemy to use it for meth production of something like that.

To the OP, I'm saddened to hear that you found it addictive, I know folks who are like that with certain cough syrups too. I would expect it's like any mild stimulant such as coffee or soda, once you are used to having the stimulant and stop you'll have headaches from the blood pressure change and the stimulants are known to provide a small performance boost during hard activity. But if you are taking more than a single 24mg pill 2-3 times a day then that's beyond any recommended dosage and you should simply stop.

Yeah you might get tired sooner during your workout, but so what? It's like stopping creatine, and suddenly the lifter can't do as well, even though they have 2-3 weeks of buildup left in their system. It's almost a placebo effect, that you think you can't perform and so therefore you can't.
