So i was at the suplement store looking for mass gainer, after i bought it, i saw that theres incredible bargain for glutamine powder, like 80% off, i thought it would be a sin if i wouldn't buy it  So i took it and im thinking of taking 5 grams each day just before i go to sleep, i did some research on the internet and i found out that its good to take glutamine after or before workouts aswell. So i want your advice, mby some1 is using glutamine too, what is the best time to take glutamine? Thanks, for help.

I never used glutamine myself. however I read books about bodybuilding and many time I was facing glutamine in supplement sections. I read everythng in the books so I have some information about glutamine. it's recommended to take 5-20grams of Glutamine post workout.(depends on your composition). Glutamine is tool that prevents you from losing muscle. I can't get to much into details because im not scientist, but glutamine somehow protects muscle from breaking down after strenuous workouts by increasing glutamine in your muscles (if im right now), if you have low levels of glutamine you have higher chance for muscle breakdown to occur. However as you may noticed glutamine is mostly for advanced athletes. Glutamine somehow helps to replenish glycogen in your muscles. Glycogen is stored in msucles for energy and adds volume to muscle. Hence if you want to perform well you need to have glycogen in your muscles before your workout and replenish it after workout ( Maby this sentence wasn't related to this post, however I will leave it here to make everything more clear). I dont like that you are taking it before bed ( however there maby is some good in it, because I read that it may also increase GH levels, I won't get into details here). Before bed as I read it's best to eat something like cottage cheese, because of caseine it has in it ( slow release protein, lets call it just like that. It's good to have slow absorbtion amino acids during sleep because you won't be eating for 6-9h.). However im not aware of any research proving that eating caseine before bed somehow increases your muscle building processes.
Im not scientist and I can't give you any links to what is sayd here to prove it. It's just information that you may or may not follow, or do research on what was sayd by yourself. I by my self believe that all sayd here is worh trying or atleast researching ( Otherwise I wouldn't be posting it here, as it is obvious).

I will swear up & down by it. It definetly helps with recovery & muscle soreness. I take it 4 times throughout the day. I would recommend 3-5 grams (12-20 grams total in a day) each time depending on your body weight and how much you workout.

You are absolutely right about eating cottage cheese before you go to bed, im doing it for months now Big thanks for your replies, although i knew that glutamine helps to maintain muscle mass. I think im going to take it in the morning and before i go to bed.

hey dont buy glutamine powder separately , waste of money
you have to give attention to only one thing - make sure you eat protein 1 g per pound of body weight
all these advice about glutamine for pre workout , post work out are crap in the internet - they are marketing gimmicks to make you spend more money
glutamine is non essential amino acid , if you are eating enough protein your body can make enough glutamine by itself
1 scoop of whey protein = around 4 g of glutamine , i u take 3 scoops it is 12 g of glutamine , if you eat eggs , fish , meal ,milk all are complete source of protein and have good amount of glutamine in them
there are only 2 supplements that u need to consider buying - protein powder and creatine (depends on your goal)
all amino acid supplements - glutamine , arginine , beta alanine, BCAAs are BULL SHIT ! YOU DO NOT NEED ANY AMINO ACID SUPPLEMENT IF YOU ARE EATING PROTEIN RICH DIET AGAIN
instead of thinking what supplements to take firstly eat quality protein foods man

catabolism happens only if you starve without food for hours , eat food , you do not need any glutamine to avoid catabolism
read the article written by goldie about burning muscle - you have very less chance of burning muscle
to avoid catabolism you need to eat often and you need to get protein rich foods it is that simple , you dont need any glutamine shit
guys who write good reviews about glutamine is largely PLACEBO effect

For me personally, glutamine works. I've taken it a couple different times and then I quit taking it to make sure it was working. It definetly cuts down on my soreness and recovery time. I totally agree on the whey protein. BCAA's did absolutely nothing for me. I pretty much just use whey, fish oil, creatine, glutamine and I also use a good preworkout. Thats pretty much it for me.

Well i already mentioned that i bought it, because it was almost for free, its really expensive and i wouldnt buy it otherwise. everything is good with my diet, theres no problem, mate  The thing i dont understnad is why glutamine tastes like nothing when i drink it with water?  When i add water it tastes like water

Glutamine is a worthless product unless you have some sort of digestive problem. There is absolutely no need to supplement the amino acid that is most abundant in the body, much less if you're already consuming protein powder.

Not sure how many times I have said this but it never gets through
ANY individual amino acid sold individually is not worth buying, and has no possible benefit over simply eating a sandwhich!!!!!! whether you get glutamine from food or a suppliment like this does not change what it is used for when it enters cells. Yes it will improve muscle repair, so will a sandwhich only the sandwhich will be much more effective. the cells will take up the glutamine and use it for whatever the cell needs, no matter where the glutamine comes from. you cannot change this. This is just expensive and far far far FAR less usefull than eating a sandwhich
EAT A SANDWHICH!
