It may not be bad for you but its not something you need to take either. They make the rules and despite it being safe to take, its not something you need to convince them of. Food is better anyway, so get eating and dont worry about protein shakes.

Firstly, find some websites that argue against the negative myths of protein powders (I'm sure Scoobysworkshop has a section explaining whey).
Show these to your parents. THEN, tell your parents that you will be perfectly happy not taking the protein, and will instead rely on them (whomever does the cooking in the house) to provide you the protein equivalent in small meals throughout the day, like egg white protein shakes, tuna fish sandwiches, etc.
They will either make you the protein rich foods to fill your requirements, or if it's too overwhelming for them, they will give in and let you use whey supplements instead.
Either way, its win-win. You need your protein, and you should let them know it.

Perhaps it is bad for you.
Perhaps your parents are protecting you from the psychological damage of thinking that you require a constant source of protein, when in actuality.... you do not. And by living at what you see as a deficit you may realise that you in fact get sufficient?
