i am fat right now and can seem to make muscle still without whey, im fat but i got muscle underneath and want to know after my goal of becoming thinner from cardio , will i need whey to gain muscle, like abs or other muscles in arms or legs instead of natural protein like eating the right protein foods?
i dont feel confortable taking powder suppliments, but will eating food like steak or greasless burgers help?
like i eat steak as my dad cuts the fat off before cooking it because he cant take the fat because of heart problems and also he uses a convection oven that takes the grease out of the burger meat, so instead of taking whey will that and other high protein foods work for building more muscle after i lose my belly fat and lovehandles and butt fat and body fat instead of protien shakes?

You should check out the nutrition section on Scooby's site as he goes into detail on what to eat and how much to loose weight. There is a calculator on there, use it.

And no you don't need whey, just make sure you get enough protein, again this is all explained at length on the main site.

I would try to eat more lean proteins like fish and chicken and your Dad would do well to do the same.

thanks for the info, and about my dad, it wouldn't do to good for my dad to eat protein and workout as he has heart problems where his heart is only working on half a cylinder and cant work his heart to hard as it will only put stress on his heart, his bottom half of his heart is dead, when he had the heart attack it wasn't only one attack but multiple, which means he'd be better not changing the ways he does things in health, sorry

I would recommend that both you and your dad dont eat a lot of red meat. It has fat and cholestrol in it moreso than other meats, so its best to not eat it more than say, 3X a week. maybe even 2 times. Eat chicken and turkey and fish and maybe some vegetarian sources of protein like beans.

I got whey protein powder so that I could have a leaner, easy source of protein (enabling me to lose a little bodyfat while maintaining my muscle mass)

So no, you dont need protein powder, but its nice to have Smiley
Its a supplement. There if you dont get enough protein normally, or if your only protein sources were bacon and peanut butter XD

I did not mean working out when I was referring to your father. I was encouraging a diet of lean meats such as fish, turkey, and chicken. Science suggests a diet low in saturated fats and trans fats maybe beneficial to reducing LDL (Low-density Lipoprotiens) in the blood. Too much LDL in the blood is not good especially in those with a heart condition because the excess particles can form deposits on the walls of coronary arteries and other arteries throughout the body. These deposits are are called plaque. Plaque can build up and restrict the flow of blood or break off; both of which could cause a heart attack or stroke.
