For some reason tennis is a sport that makes me rage when trying to learn it ? i have played a handful of times but constantly give up due to frustration ? not sure why though i play golf, no rage and lots of other sports, DH mountain biking snowboarding, skate boarding, hockey basketball etc... but tennis is the only one that sets my head on fire

I don't play tennis, but my mom and dad are pretty good tennis players who play with amateur leagues all the time. Although, back in middle school I took tennis lessons, least before I became a fat ass. My big thing is running.

Tennis takes a while to master and you keep on learning, the more you play the more it feels natural.
Heck, I love playing tennis, and thanks to working out, I can keep up with "healthy" players.
I am tall as well, with long limbs, so yeah, it's way easier to reach and hit over the net and have a beastly service, just by swinging that leverage.
I have noticed that getting stronger legs have the most impact on my game, as I can now get to the right place in time to place myself in order to hit the ball like I want. Hard sport on them calves!

I'm an old fart, 38 years old and started tennis 3 years ago. This last year, together with working out has gone really well. Matches are something else. Improving on that in a fast pace.

I love tennis, it's a challenging sport and there's always something to work on. I like to hit against the wall, but this Spring I hope to find some hitting partners or maybe get a ball machine.
I agree with Sir Round: working out legs makes a big difference. Having strong legs also lets you do stuff like plyometrics and agility drills without getting injured. I don't think having muscular arms carries over to tennis as well, though. At least at my level, proper swing technique is vastly more important than raw arm strength.
