I really need help on this. How do I improve my acceleration for soccer? I think it's one of my weaknesses. When I get into gear, I'm fairly fast, but I'm pretty sure my acceleration is bad.

NOTE: Would be great if we could avoid - Run from this cone to the other and back-ish exercises.

    Why avoid that exercise?

Because you say to avoid it, but I find it something that simulates how you play in soccer.

It's because if our coach gets pissed all our training is going to be only that. It's killing me. Which then ends in me being totally wasted when I come back home. Basically... Bad experience. I also feel like it doesn't help my acceleration, but my speed in general.

In what situation do you believe that improving your acceleration will help you in playing soccer and why?

One on 1. I got the ball or the opponent got one. We both stand still, he/me makes a move. You understand?

Yes. Running fast and getting the ball helps and doing shuttle runs simulate it best. Another alternative is to do sprint intervals, but you should consider doing shuttle runs. Smiley

The best way to get a quick first step/acceleration is through training your CNS (Central nervous system)
