Hey, i was wondering, how do you keep pushing foward in cardio, be it running, biking, swimming whatever it is, when your really tiered and you jsut want to stop and give up?
How do you keep on going?
I find this hard. Because not alot of my friends like to do cardio, they are all for just lifting and no cardio. They dont understand that i need this cardio for the stamina in martial arts sparring. And i dont have any proper running shoes, and i screwed up my ankles when i hit the window sill with a roundhouse kick by accident, so i am forced to bike.
Now im using my sisters bike, laugh all you want but i dont have my own bike, because bikes are expensive. Its pink, its my size but shes a girly girl :/ So i dont want to go out in public with it. But i go around my garden.
But its boring, going around in circles 100'ds of times, for half an hour, again and again, and again.
How do i keep going, because i get bored, and i loose motivation quickly.
currently i think about martial arts, like kyokushin, taekwondo, all these martial arts, sparring, the feeling of sparring,a dn that keeps me going. But its when i have to break, and stop to turn, as i have a long narrow garden, and i have to stop at the ends to turn around, at that point i feel the tieredness.
I know that if it was one straight line i could keep going... but its the stopping, and re accelerating that sucks!, but also its boring.
I need something to spice it up.
So i need, tips on how to keep going, keep motiating, spice it up. I can only really bike and swim, and i can only swim on wednesdays. I bike nearly every day for stamina, but usually only 10 minutes to warm up for practicing kicks after, and more on cardio days.

Run on the road or on a trail, the scenery helps.

Man, start investing some money to things which are necessary for your life. The money spent on bikes is money spent well. Thanks for the funny story though, I was laughing out loud sorry. In the end it is just money. But anyways, for the main subject. I just keep going. My mind keeps shouting "Give up, STOP STOP STOP" and that is the reason why I love cardio and it also separates people from champions and not being a champion, the fact that you can go above the pain period and still go on.

Well im a serious rower for York city, England, and when im exhausted during a race or a piece (an example is the 6k i did yesterday) you cant stop. No matter how much you want to. Its just a mental barrier, for me its as simple as closing my eyes and BREATHING! You probably cant close your eyes if your running etc xD but honestly its all about breathing! Find a rhythm that suits you, whether its every step, every 2 focus on that and you will pass the pain! Just remember, its all in your head, get past that and you will be unstoppable Hope this helps you my friend Myles-Finton

Your body will go on for a long time after your mind wants to quit, remember that.

oh ok, so its just a mental barrier, i assume its your mind trying to stop your body from going to far as a genetic safety precaution right?
anyways how do you break this, mental barrier. Because its easy to say, im going to bike for 1 hour today non stope highest gears and difficulty, but then when you get there its easy to give up.

Imagine yourself losing a match because you didn't train hard enough when you want to stop.

Well for cardio i do running, i can run a lot without stopping ( 30 km + ), but the thing is im not exhausted but it starts to get boring when i run for like 1 hour and more, so what i do i run to a place where are many people to see me, so i cant fail in front of everyone ad i keep running in very good tempo, or i run far from my home, and the only way to get home is to run back, so i have no choice and i run without stopping. In your situation i would do cardio with your sisters bike, do your really care what other people say about you? And thoose who laugh at you for riding a girly bike, probably dont even train and only thing they can do is laugh at other people who want to get in better shape. Well if you want to continue doing your cardio in your garden do it, ofcourse i dont know how big is the space available to you, but still its better than nothing. And as other guys suggested here - save up for a bike and you wont have nothing to worry about!

bro advise: you mentally prepare for it. by this, i mean when i'm tired - i imagine doing more by visualizing running - and walk back to start.

I tell myself that's what the main character do to get stronger...!! Seriously...
I go for cardio knowing that's what Batman do to build up his stamina, push through my last working sets telling myself that Ichigo and Naruto didn't get stronger by doing nothing...
I know i'm ridiculous... -.-"

Choose a word that means alot to you or inspires you/gets you mad, a word that fills you with some fuel. Think about that word, wether it be a place/person/verb/character trait, anything. Repeat that word over and over and over and over and over in your head before you train; you won't get tired, you'll just find your on the floor unsure of what happened. It doesn't matter if it makes you angry/helps you focus/whatever, people see videos online and think you have to get angry to lift heavy shit, everyone does it, when really everyone is different. Sure, you'll be glaring at the bar, eyeing it up before you lift it, but you don't need to be shaking with uncontrollable fury. (works for some though) Some people probably need self encouragement (thinking a phrase like "im the best") over and over, and some have to hate on themselves (calling themselves a pussy) for example. Edit; All of the above sounds stupid but it works for me and a couple other people I know. Also don't tell anyone the word that gets you going, if you know what I mean, it's your word. And it should mean ALOT to you to get you fired enough to push your bodies limits. Also, couldn't you just practice your kicks in your garden for extra cardio? Like explosive practicing. Not slow technique kind of practicing.
