I wanted to know if it was to late to start wrestling. I'm 16 and in 11'th grade. I did swimming last year, wasn't that good but this year I really want to do wrestling. I will automatically make varsity because I'm the only 185 but I'm a little nervous doing something I have no experience doing. Should I stay with swimming or give wrestling a try. Any advice or help would be great.

Thanks I'm still alittle worried that I won't be able to catch up skill wise to other wrestlers. I'm stronger than most other wrestlers but I don't know if ill have enough skill to be any good

Don't worry about it.  What you do is more important than how you do it. Cheesy

    Keep up the effort.

Wow.  Keep breaking your 1rms. Smiley

Michael Jordan was unsure of himself that he cried when his coach told him he has absolutely no talent for basketball when he was a kid. But he tried, and we remember him as the best there is (at least for my generation). Cheesy

Just try.  Smiley  You never know if you're good if you don't give it a shot.

Yes you can. I think the thought that you cannot start something because you are too old etc is the most stupid way of thinking anyone has. I used to think I can't do this and can't do that because I didn't start it when I was something like 5-10 years old. That's just BS.

If you want to start wrestling, do it. Even though some have trained wrestling since they were little kids, if you push hard enough, you can still become a professional if not even the best in the world. If success is one of your goals that is. If it is just having fun and learning how to wrestle, there is still no reasons why you shouldn't start wrestling if it interests you.

The thing is, the age is just a mind thing. The problem with nowadays society is seriously that everyone is holding themselves back because of their age when the age only starts to become a limiting factor when you can't perform the basic human functions such as walking etc, and for most of us this might never happen.
