hey any one got any good training methods/ conditioning/ circuit training / plyometric training / power training etc ??

I've practice rugby and i belive that the only "special" conditioning you need is shoulders and hamstrings.

A weight lifting routine like the ones Scooby got in his page are great to increase your strenght. Just focus on your shoulders, they play a huge rol in tackling, scrums, rucks etc. In your shoulder day include lots of strechings and some isometrics

For your legs go heavy. single leg press is a great exercise

It will be great that you post your current workout routine, rugby training routine, diet. That way whe can add info or critic your current methods
How long have you been trainig? How old are u? Do you have a specific goal?

Having played rugby for a couple of years myself I recommend following scooby's workout programs. They will give you the strong body you need for an intense contact sport like rugby.

Running & jump rope is the way to go for cardio.

I've had the honor to be trained by 2 guys from the NZ All Blacks for a couple of weeks. They literally made us do 100's of push ups every training. This one guys leg was about the size of my chest -.-
We've also been on a rugby tour to England and had a training from the trainers and players from the first team at Bath Rugby.
Pretty unique experiences!  Grin

    I personally don't recommend a bodybuilding plan for someone who wants to focus on rugby. You don't need muscle mass in rugby, what you need is functional strength. Of course, this can be achieved through the techniques of bodybuilding training, but I'd say it's far from the optimal when training for rugby.

    The legs, of course, are extremely important in rugby. And the problem is that you need to have well developed legs in every single way. You need to be strong and explosive for sprints, rucks, mauls and scrums but you also need quite a bit of endurance for all of the natural intervals that occur during rugby matches. Heavy leg compounds (squats and DL, of course) together with plyometrics and steady state cardio and/or HIIT will probably do you lots of good. Doing the heavy leg compounds will also give you valuable core strength needed. Please note that this is just my views. I'd quite like to discuss this if someone disagrees with me.

    As for upper body strength, a well balanced workout plan will probably suffice. I'd prefer either low rep or high rep training over the bodybuilding rep range I, personally, would rather take strength or endurance over muscle mass any day, when it comes to rugby. A program like Starting Strength or SS, complemented with high rep work every now and then seems like a good solution to me.
