I've been working out for about four years now. I'm 174cm tall and I used to be very lean and rather skinny. Last year I decided that I wanted a curvy body so I started to put on weight, I've gone from being 120 lbs to 150 lbs. I like my new curvaceous body much better than what I looked like before. My only problem is that in order to keep those curves on I need to keep extra fat on my body so that means it goes on my abs too. I'm wondering if anyone can help me out and let me know what to do to work on my abs without loosing the extra fat off my body, because I need it to keep my curves. I know Scooby always says that to get good abs we need to cut down on body fat, but is there any other way because without the fat I look like a stick!

No, lol, I dont think theres any other way you can keep the abs without losing fat, but it doesnt really matter because being curvy I think is rather sexy and why worry about the abs anyways if your not a man? Im pretty sure men dont care if women have abs or not lol, they just dont really want a women with a pudgy belly.

The only way to spot-reduce is with liposuction. Strong abs do help hold in your core, though, and keep your stomach flat even if your abs don't show. You might want to look at a workout like Scooby's ---> 3 Minute Ab Workout, which is for flat abs.

Lipo isn't the only solution, there are other surgical options - much more expensive and dangerous ones (but with permanent effects). Cheesy

Anyway, I don't know about other guys, but although I do prefer women with curves, a lean woman with abs is also very hot, just in a completely different way.

So, why do you need both, when either option is good? IMHO women with both curves (not including breasts) and abs look ridiculous.

lol just go for the curves wothout pudginess, like layers of fat and no stretch marks of course....if I were a woman I wouldnt worry about abs one bit although Goldie is right, it is important to have a strong core.

My stomach is totally flat and pretty hard, and I don't have a big tummy or anything. I just don't have the tight abs I used to have before. Not even remotely enough fat for liposuction and even if there was that is not an option I would consider. I guess I'll never be able to have the abs that I had before... thank you for your input guys.

no problem....also remember that you can still have a strong core without your abs showing....the abs showing is all about body fat percentage...so if you went from 120 to 150, then you put on some fat but as long as its a flat stomach with no pudginess and stretch marks....then you're ok.

A low body fat is essential for abs   Sad

If you like your new look better now, you can keep it that way! Keep exercising the abs though, strong abs will support the spine much better! Smiley

I really don't like visible abs on women, X-packs have become so damn synonymous with "hunky guy" or whtvr, that a woman with an X-pack just looks masculine to me.

Stick with the curves, the ads might say men want that "sexy flat 6-pack" etc, but really, all us guys (who aren't idiots) want are some curves to cuddle with  Cheesy

    Hi everyone,
I want to thank you all for your input on this thread.  I'm (obviously) new here.  I've been involved in various sports for years but have always been fascinated by bodybuilding.  I've been following Scooby's website but after a lot of internal searching have finally found that my resistance to try body building has come from a fear of turning into one of those girls that you can knock over with a feather.  I just don't want to be "skinny" & "ripped".

Our society has drilled it into us that we have to be skinny.  Your comments here have really reinforced for me that I can totally move into body building to develop a stronger body that will aid in sports and a healthy lifestyle but that I can totally just choose how low I want to go with my body fat percentage.  Just because I'm not looking "ripped" or don't even have a goal to show off my "six pack" I can still work towards having one that will just be my secret.  Perhaps even my secret weapon when it comes to triathlon.  I can still participate in bodybuilding and fitness without the goal of being a stick.   How empowering is that!

Thanks so much to everyone.  This really has helped boost my confidence and may just help me get past that mental block!

    Take Care

G`day, ah you girls are lucky caise generally yous put fat first on the hips, guys see theirs out front but you have 2 advantages, you don`t see it and gives a lil curve while keeping the tummy flat.
I don`t think it unusual for girls to do stomach vacume exercises, while it may look ugly to do it strengthens the inner muscles and tightens up the abs area and with practice one can hold the abs in easier giving a flatter appearance without having to do lower BF%..worth s try .. HTH   Smiley

You could go for a 4-pack, I mean, if you lose fat easily like you said, you can just kind of experiment and see what looks best. Skinny women don't look good anyway IMO. Also, the bigger your abs get, the more fat you can put on ( = bigger "curves" Cheesy) without your stomach looking ugly because the abs kind of hold in the fat.

A lot of the guys here are saying they want ''curvy'' girls, but I personally find thin much more attractive.
