I'm not a girl, but since I've done research on water retention vs. fat loss etc. I'll give you the short answer =p

Yes.  You can still lose fat while retaining water for whatever reason it is (salt/hormones etc.).  Your scale weight might/will remain unchanged, but your body composition will still be changing as long as you're at a caloric deficit.

Thank u for ur reply I really appreciate it... Is there any way me knowing I'm losing fat as in a sign?? Usually I get my body fat tested bt this remains the same during the period week..

Also... If I am losing fat during my period then won't I need to lower my calories aswell?? Since I can't see any difference in weight.. How will I make progress if I don't no how many calories to eat?

    :-)

If you're currently eating at a deficit, continue at approximately the same rate even if the scale weight won't change.  The only way you'll be able to tell if you effectively lost any fat is by checking your scale weight/body composition after your body is done retaining water.

I'm also not a lady, and going to agree with Polished completely.

Yes you can keep losing fat, and it will be at the same rate (even if the scale doesn't show it).

In a week when that ~5lbs of water is gone, you might be pleasantly surprised by the scale.
