Unfortunately I dont have any expertise on the female-specific aspects of working out. Has anyone purchased an eBook on womens workouts that they think is particularly good? On my website I want to start doing some reviews of the better eBooks and if I'm going to start reviewing, I might as well start with the best ones first. Thanks!

Women should work out exactly the same as men do. Weight training is the best way for a woman to lose fat / get the physique she wants.

Goldie, thats funny! I did find one eBook specifically taylored for women bodybuilders but its pretty hard-core competition stuff, not sure how interested women would be in it. I plan to review it anyway just because I'm really excited about hearing a female bodybuilders perspective on things. Its called "Iron Dolls", gotta love the title

This would be good to see if there is truth or if its a myth that women workouts are different. They may have different goals. But most people have different goal too...

Your first sentence is correct, but the second is not. To lose fat weight training is quite ineffective, cardio and proper nutrition are key there.

Scooby, Like many here I prefer your training advice the most, but since you asked - I recently enjoyed reading a book on women's fitness that covered many of the topics I am interested in: Knack Weight Training for Women: Step-by-Step Exercises for Weight Loss By Leah Garcia, 2009. In addition to a variety of topics, the exercises are well illustrated and easy to follow. If I were to criticize the book I would say that including more information on nutrition would have made it more 'complete'. a Preview of the book is available online through Google books: http://books.google.ca/books?id=5un2SO9VYaMC&printsec=frontcover#v=onepage&q&f=falseCheers, - Acorn

Not an ebook (that I know of..) but "Strong Women Stay Strong" by Miriam E. Nelson, Ph. D, is a very good read. The first four chapters give some excellent information including studies done on ELDERLY women showing why weight training (not just aerobics/cardio/yoga/etc.) is vital for women over 35. Some of the exercises aren't depicted well, i.e., flat hand pushups, but the edition I have is from 1998. Maybe a newer edition is out with more correct examples of form and more in-depth studies but what I read in this edition was enough to convince me that at least some weight-training is a MUST.
Also, I would highly recommend two books by Dr. John R. Lee, "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause" and "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About PRE-Menopause". ALL women of any age should read these - it's NEVER too early! The more you know about your body, the better you can take care of it. Also, any husbands or significant others might appreciate the 'enlightment' if they are suffering along with their spouses/girlfriends... ;-)
Finally, Scooby, you need someone to proofread/edit your site. Mostly, it's for minor stuff but for the quality, honesty, and depth of information your offering, the writing should be on par. ;-)

You are your own gym, the bible for body weight excercises. It gives body weight excercises from head to toe with modifications for beginners, and it has plans for begginers to elite (4 levels in total). I'm a guy, but I don't believe in gyms I do these workouts, and I follow scooby's nutrition advice. Awesome results
