Hi, my name is Midori. I'm about five feet, 1 inch tall and currently weigh 97 lbs. My goal weight is between 115 and 120. I love to read fiction books, creative writing, video games, and emoticons. I just turned 21 and have been skinny pretty much my whole life after I hit five years old, lol. I lost all the baby fat then. I started a blog about a week ago to chart my progress here: pencilframe.blogspot.com. If anyone has similar goals to mine please let me know so we can help each other out. I'm starting to feel like I'm the only one with my goals...

Hi Antonia, welcome! First off, please don't use all caps... it's hard to read! I google'd Lumbar Spondylolysis because I've never heard of it! From what I've read, you do need to be careful about what activities you do, especially gymnastics, martial arts, and weightlifting--sports that require bending your back and using weights. Because you're also recovering from an achilles injury, I'd recommend that you talk to your doctor and your physical therapist about what activities would be best for you. My initial thought is that swimming might be good, BUT--please check with a medical professional first. In the meantime, you can work on perfecting your nutrition. Here's a good place to start ---> Nutrition. You can also look here ---> Nutrition Basics, and surf through our Nutrition and Cardio & Losing Weight forums for information about weight loss. Again, welcome!

Oh im so sorry about the caps, i wasn't paying attention to it as i was writing it. Thanks, it feels good to be apart of this group. So far for the Achilles Tendon, im progressing well. i ruptured it last Nov and had surgery for it. I'm able to work out but im restricted from running or jumping. I just found out about my back last month. I had went to the ER last Dec for back pain but they didn't tell me much about it. I returned again to the ER last month because I was working out and heard a pop and pain followed. I waited 2 weeks and felt great. I was sitting Indian style on my floor and couldn't get up, so I went to the ER and found out what it was. Sooooooo long story short their is nothing the Dr. can do to fix it , He encourages me to work out so I can build up my back muscles. I will def check out the information you've provided. I have lost 25 lbs so far and nutrition is the reason . thank you again , I'll be following along

It's great that the doctor told you to build up your back muscles, but he should have referred you to a physical therapist. There are some weight lifting techniques which are terrific for building strength in your back muscles, but some of them *may* not be good for your condition. See if you can get to a physical therapist, even just for a few sessions, so you have some idea of what's good, and what's not, for your back.

Hi Mimi, welcome!
This is a very friendly site, and 99.9% of the information for men is exactly the same for women. So don't be afraid to surf the entire bulletin board, search for answers, and ask questions if you don't find the answer!

Next week I will be going on vacation, any tips on keeping the weight off while on vacation? Once I return I'll have to weigh in with my team. We are competing for the biggest loser. thanks in advance.
